Limbaugh opens his mouth: "having a good time" - blowing off steam

http://mediamatters.org/

Hours before President George W. Bush announced plans to address the Arab world to condemn the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. military personnel at the Abu Ghraib prison, Rush Limbaugh justified the U.S. guards' mistreatment of the Iraqis, stating that they were just "having a good time," and that their actions served as an "emotional release."

1. OK, pigboy, strip naked
I'm sure Limbaugh won't have any problem helping others to blow off some steam. I'm just as sure that there wouldn't be any end to the number of volunteers who would be glad to give him the same exact treatment those prisoners got, cameras, bags on the head, wires, the whole works.

Have him put his money where his big fat mouth is.

2. The shills that are trying to justify this gross abuse of authority
make me sick to my stomach.

The drug addict is good at making up excuses for despicable behavior, he is a pro! This is not surprising in the least.

Hannity was saying yesterday that these troops are americans and they are innocent until proven guilty. While that is the rule of law in our country, I don't think their guilt is questioned because we have the pictures. Hannity is such a colossal boob.

6. I've heard this a lot...
that there's innocence until proven guilty, and I even agree. But that does not mean that the events in question didn't happen or need to be proven guilty. The soldiers need a trial, but the US *IS* guilty and needs to address the issue immediately.

I think Hannity and others (even people whom I find moderately respectable) are either very confused or are using faulty logic to try to convince us (Americans - this will not convince foreigners) that there's nothing to see here.

12. I think the only people whose guilt is in question are those as you
go up the chain of command. The reality is, we have pictures of troops torturing (what I consider POW'S) with a big ass smile on their face. They are guilty. This nonsense of we weren't trained doesn't/should'nt stick because BASIC human decency should have told them that dragging a naked man around on a friggin' leash was wrong. Now we need to go up the chain of command and those are the ones whose guilt needs to be determined through the due process.

There isn't any justifying this and I am sick of those who are attempting to do so with bogus screams of "they were the enemy" or "they are terrorists" or "Saddam was worse". It is all busllshit.

15. Agreed, agreed, agreed!
There's no excuse for what they've done. Absolutely not! But photos or not, they deserve a trial. They should be arrested and taken to trial immediately, and when found guilty they should go to the place where there is no darkness. No question. But to deny them - the individual soldiers - a trial of some sort, would be against our own policies and ideals.

And beyond, far far beyond the evils inflicted on the PoWs, we need to recognize that the soldiers and contractors who committed these crimes are also traitors to their country and their fellow soldiers. Many Americans will DIE as a result of these photos and actions.

We (anti-war activists) are often accused of emboldening the enemy because we are fighting against the war. This, however, is a clear action of emboldening and aggrivating the situation - no questions asked.

Now if this were under Clinton's watch this would be all the evidence the righties needed to show that Bill's actions were setting the tone for moral depravity in this country.

4. He also compared the prisoner abuse to John Kerry "atrocities"
in Vietnam and "he came home a hero".

He also said that perhaps the Iraqi people are not all that upset since these guys are the Insurectionists and former Saddam followers!

"We are at war, folks. These people are the ENEMY."

Fucking moron and idiot - why isn't THIS jerkface in JAIL getting his abuse for his drug deals???

16. Except for one thing, John Kerry admitted to it and tried to expose it.
We illegally INVADED a sovereign nation, killing through aerial and sea carrier bombings with some of the most powerfull weapons on earth. And now we are supposed to accept that we have right to torture and abuse them as prisoners?

19. "Insurectionists???"
They call 'em that, and "insurgents," and "terrorists," but what they really are is partisans.

They're fighting for their country. That makes 'em partisans.

5. Shut up Pigboy, before you get some soldiers killed...
with comments like that. Why aren't the RW defenders of the military jumping all over him and Dennis Miller for their comments excusing the abuse? It's fodder for anti-American sentiment in the ME.

7. Mrs Al Franken (Frannie) said if Rush truly wants to help the soldiers
"blow off some steam" he should go over there, meet them on the tarmac, have them put a broom up his ass and let them ride HIM.

Al says his wife, Frannie, thinks this is what Limbaugh should do if he sincerely believes in supporting our troops.

9. Great... Rush can do a USO tour with a broomstick up his ass
Rush can contibute to the war effort by letting the troops blow off some steam watching him enjoy some good natured pranks. What's a little amperage between frat buddies?

10. Oh, God this is so sick.
I followed the link. It's the same amoral spin that Hanratty used, that this was just a frat hazing. Nazi concentration camp guards used to mutilate and torture men, women, and children "for sport". Has our country fallen so low that these sentiments don't generate widespread disgust?

11. Dont you remember
Old Cyst-boy's outrage supporting the Bush administration's outrage over the humiliation of Saddam merely showing video's of captured American soldiers on Iraqi television and the rebroadcast of these videos over Al-Jazeera. Remember their outrage against this violation of the Geneva convention's requirements to not humiliate captured combattants by showing pictures of them in captivity.

Eat it fat boy!

13. Today, he suggests maybe the Iraqis were enjoying it
He started off reading a letter/email talking about how you can see pictures like this on porn web sites.

He goes on to suggeest that you can see, or participate, in these sort of activities in "certain neighborhoods in America".

Finally, maybe the Iraqis had been so corrupted by the American porn industry that they were enjoying it.

He is one sick puppy.

21. If Bush was serious about "damage control" --
-- he needs to get Limbaugh to cease making such irresponsible statements as this.

But we know that he is not sincere when he says he finds the incident abhorent. He's just upset that he got caught.

I would hope some member of the press would ask Bush to comment on Limbaugh's statement on this matter.

At least Limbaugh has the guts to be out in the open about it. He's saying what His Chimperial Majesty is surely thinking.

They tried to send out trial balloons to see how they would fly -- first, "bad apples"; second, "harmless stunts"; and both have flopped.

Bush is in a very bad position -- whatever he does now is going to hurt him.
