How great was John McCain today?
Now there's someone who knows abuse and torture.

I'm sure the usual suspects will come out of the woodwork and blast him, but since we do have to work with Republicans in Washington, there's one I'd want on my side every time.

Call me a freeper if it makes you feel better, but I admire the guy even if I don't agree with him half the time.

1. He was impressive today. He really wanted to get to the bottom
of the issue and he wasn't letting Rummy off the hook. I thought it was great that he would say "Mr. Secretary, can't you answer the question?"

2. What is he missing?
How can he even pretend to still support these horrible people? He is conservative but the Democrats don't require issue loyalty. They attacked the honor of him, his wife and his daughter. How could he forget what they are?

6. I think it's an honor and duty thing with him.
I guess his family was always Repug and so was he. He won't change because he would feel he was being disloyal to the Party.

It's an age thing. Younger people don't have much Party loyalty any more.

I respect John McCain, seems like the type one could really discuss the issues, agree to disagree. He wouldn't get insulting or arrogant.

I know he made that unkind crack about Chelsea, but I can forgive him because he was so good-natured when Al Franken joked about McCain's war service.

4. I liked the way
he went straight to the chase and wasn't going to let them duck without hammering his questions for an answer.

5. he did well today...he gave it to rummy full blast...and wouldn't let
rummy get away with his 'little' condi-run-out-the-clock crap...

repetitively, he told rummy...."wait a minute, you are not answering the question....answer the question...."

mcCain wanted to know the command authority for these torture operations and he got a lot out of rummy....mcCain is not going to let rummy push the whole blame out to a few low-level guards....it was clear after mcCain's questioning, that the torture commands came from HIGH UP...HIGH HIGH UP....

although nobody wants to say it out loud...it was bush* that demanded WMD, no matter how many Iraqis had to be tortured....the reTHUGlicans will try to sacrifice rummy in order to save bush*...

8. I did like...
The way he exposed Rummy's stunning ingorance about the 'chain of command' in his own Defense Dept.

Wolfowitz dunno how many dead soldiers there are, and Rummy dunno who bosses who around in his own Dept.

Kudos to Randi Rhodes for covering the 'Rummy Show' today...

9. Right. Of course he has to unclamp his mouth from Bush's rear end
long enough to spew a few politically motivated words. Screw McCain.
