This is no surprise: Operation Phoenix now is underway in Iraq
The Taguba report and the pictures are just the least of it. The same crew that used Operation Phoenix to build what newspeak calls "democracy" in Vietnam is now controlling strategy in Iraq. Haven't heard of that bit of history? A short fact list: http://www.serendipity.li/cia/operation_phoenix.htm

Thousands blown to bits, tens of thousands maimed in a few days, all remotely by a war machine run by psychopaths serving their all-consuming god "Privatization," also known as Mammon. All "justified" by lie upon lie and the ideology of cowardice and bigotry. In Fallujah hundreds more buried in mass graves and the critically wounded survivors are prevented from entering hospitals.

None of this should be a surprise. This is what invading hordes do to their victims.

Bands of heavily armored invaders race through the night, breaking into homes, dragging citizens from their homes. Homes and orchards are turned to rubble. Wives, mothers and fathers, children, brothers and sisters are subjected to terror and imprisonment and punished, simply because accusations have been made about a family member. No heads on pikes, but the TV age equivalent.

This is no surprise - none of it. This is how conquest is done. The victims are never human to the victors.

These are the inevitable signs of the terminal stage of a soulless Golem known as monopoly capitalism, corporatism, fascism or imperialism. This is sometimes euphemist as American exceptional ism, Manifest Destiny, spreading civilization, the White Man's Burden, or serving some bizarre god's wishes.

Vile? Yes.
Amoral? Well, duh - it is a mechanism driven only by profit margins.
Effective? Only in feeding the monster.
A surprise? No.

1. Makes sense, heroin, guns, oppression if it smells like walks like ollie
north...

Wonder why that site doesn't mention the Iran Contra coke for guns deal? Isn't Op Phoenix about funding ops with drug sales? Those same freaks that promote the war on drugs... it's really war with drugs. Over and over again hence 'phoenix'.

2. same team, different operation
See http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~pdscott/index.html to begin delving into more on this aspect of the game they run.

One excerpt from his book "Drugs, Contras and the CIA" is here: http://www.drugwar.com/cv4.shtm For example, there's this bit:

"At the same time as the Contras, the CIA was arming and advising heroin-trafficking guerrillas in Afghanistan. Its preferred leader, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, became for a period one of the leading heroin suppliers in the world. In the last few years, the CIA has helped promote the Kosovo Liberation Army, many of whose leaders and arms are known to have been financed by Kosovar drug-trafficking.

No one can pretend that these practices have not contributed to our national drug crisis. In 1979, when the U.S. first established contact with heroin-trafficking guerrillas in Afghanistan, no heroin from the so-called Golden Crescent on the Afghan-Pakistan border was known to reach the United States. By 1984, according to the Reagan Administration, 54 percent of the heroin reaching this country came from the Afghan-Pakistan border."

Those who did this and those who tossed Vietnamese patriots into the ocean and those who now run US foreign policy are the same group. One author calls them "The Secret Team." http://www.ratical.org/ratville/JFK/ST/ST.html

It's a bit naive to see them as group of conspirators, however. They have power only to the extent that they serve corporatism in its most pure and most naked form.
