1. Those midwest numbers are great!
Looks like this thing is Kerry's to lose.

I have faith in him and am just waiting till he gets to debate Chimpy! Now that is going to be some fun stuff!

I'm scared of thinking that the sheep in this country are finally waking up to reality. I'm scared to hope.

6. As a guy, I wonder
myself. However, only a 5% divide is not bad at all. Once the campaign begins it should narrow, I hope the Democrats can come up with a united agenda to help the economy, the People, the environment, and a way out of our foreign quagmire. It would be a landslide in our favor, but can they do it?

2. Mixed Emotions
While I'm glad that Kerry has the lead overall, and to see that women are OBVIOUSLY smarter than men :P, in terms of parties, how could SO MANY people still have their heads up their asses? 44% approve + the 7% that still "don't know" (what the HELL does it take?) and you get the magical FIFTY ONE PERCENT majority, and baby, that's all it takes.

4. Dem/Repub Numbers
Edited on Thu May-13-04 04:10 AM by RoyGBiv
The Dem/Repub splits don't mean much as they are, except for the 80% negative among Democrats. That number usually isn't that high, which indicates less of a chance of losing the conservative Dems to Bush.

There's also the fact that there are more "registered" Democrats than Republicans in the country overall, so those percentages don't directly relate to the electorate split among the general population in terms of favoring Kerry or Bush. IOW, it's just a measure of party loyalty, and in recent times, it's always been the Dems that have problems with this. So, those numbers are actually very good relatively speaking.

Now, as to your actual point, we just have a lot of stupid people in this country. I know far too many people that think all the scandals, the prisoner abuse, etc. is just no big deal. Hell, there are people that still think Nixon was framed.

9. You mean he wasn't framed?

:) :)

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I think Nixon's approval rating was still at 25% or so as he was getting on the helicopter!

Stupidity crosses decades, sad to say.

7. Go Soccer Moms! Kick Those NASCAR Dad's Asses!
In advertising, the axiom was always to talk to "the lady". While the man will talk about buying this or that, it's "the lady" who does the actual purchase. Clinton knew this well.

Another intersting number at this point...the large number of undecideds in the Independents. If Bunnypants was this great leader, that number would be small (look at the earlier trends)...it opening up means people are having some real second thoughts.

Also, it'd be curious to see how many Moderate Repugnicans, who feel put out by the "mainstream" party, are now calling themselves Independent. Hope Zogby is tracking that one.
