1. He's hilarious!
From the article "Kinky Friedman for Texas governor?"
http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/1103/29kinky.html

"The question," he added, "is whether my candidacy is a joke, or the current crop of politicians is the joke."

EXCELLENT quote!LOL

3. Why they hell not?
He cannot possibly be any worse than Perry or Bush. Probably would be better and more entertaining.

4. I love his campaign slogan
"Why the hell not?"

"I determined that I'd rather be a large part of the problem than a small part of the solution. Besides, I've got Big Mo on my side. I'm not sure how traveling with a large homosexual will go down with the voters, but hell, I'll try anything. Just this morning, for instance, I tried making a campaign pitch to my fellow passengers on a crowded elevator. After several of them threatened to call 911, however, it unfortunately put me a little off-message. "Now that I have you people all together," I told them, "I can't remember what I wanted you for.""

Better than Perry or Carol Creetin of course.
Nice comic relief, really very funny guy of course.
Still, a Bush supporter when he manages to be serious.

9. Hardly a supporter of Bush policy
he is too smart to be a knee-jerk critic.

The Sludge Report is among his Kinky Links...check the website.

So, consider that.

17. he's a raging liberal who was (is??) for the Iraq war
Socially liberal for sure.
But as I say, there's hardly a serious bone in his body, so it would be hard to pin him down politically. Don't get me wrong, if he runs as a Democrat I'll vote for him. If he runs as an independent I would have to look at the Demo candidate.

19. KInky is extremely serious...funny but serious and commited
to a number of causes. War isn't one of them.

I'm willing to wager he wouldn't run a footrace as a Republican.

He is insightful, smart and would actually be a good Guv.

Where does this nonsense about his politics come from?

Edited on Thu May-13-04 06:46 PM by pinkpops
Here is a link to the audio. He clearly states he was for the Iraq war. You can hear it for yourself.
Now listen carefully: I am not dissing Kinky. I will vote for him, OK?

24. I heard it...it was in the context of a joke between him
and Willie. Willie said something like "he's a bad guy and he's done all these bad things and we've got to take him out". Kinky said"No, he's our president and we've got to stand by him".

It was a JOKE. Get it? sheesh.

Trust me, that wasn't a political position.

32. Here's another one....

Kinky's a hard guy to pin down. He works hard to get support for his Utopia Animal Rescue Ranch & will even enlist the Bushes. Did you know he served in the Peace Corps--in Borneo?

Also, I'd recommend you listen to his lyrics. And check out his columns in Texas Monthly. You need to register to read them, but they're all there.
