My supposition - Bush handlers asked them not to because they really don't want the public to see him with his face all beat up. So, by their saying they are not going to carry it is really complicance with the WH. Notice the only network that hasn't decided is CBS...the only station with a touch of maverick independence. Maybe they will.

Anyway, his handlers know that his words will be on the news anyway with the most favorable camera angles. And, missing a speech of his is no big deal, anyway. Then, they can leave it to their loyal right wing talking heads and hosts to play up the speech even more than its real time impact. If anything he says ever has an impact except for its lie impact.

1. It's not just the face,
Edited on Mon May-24-04 11:42 AM by enough
it's also his deteriorating mental condition. He is not well. It's getting worse, and it's getting harder to hide. Even a scripted speech is almost more than he can handle.

18. The WH asked them not to carry it so they can slam the 'liberal media'
for NOT carrying it. It's all about political scoring. They want FOX to be the only network to carry the speech so they can claim to be 'fair and balanced' and shake their lying fingers at the 'liberal media networks' for not giving Bush a fair shake. The networks are stupid if they don't see this.

I only wish I could have been there to see it. If there any photos of it on the web by all means please post them or a link.

5. The real reason
Is that the WH didn't ask them to carry it! (You can look it up)

This is for international and inside the beltway consumption. The last thing joe-twelvepack swing voter needs is to be reminded of Iraq.

and it won't help a thing as far as his plummeting popularity among the rabble.

It will be on FauxNews, but not the non-cable network.

11. I heard the WH didn't ask the networks for time.
My guess is that this is being done to play to his base because some seem to be straying. They know nobody who isn't already a GWB supporter is going to watch this nut, but the real ones will tune into C-Span. No reason to pre-empt someone's favorite show and pi** them off more!

12. there are signs and portents
take a look at the black robed , hooded beings under the portico who are watching Bush strut.

This is really a scary portent. Looks like the prisoner at Abu Ghraib who was dressed in that black outfit and a black hood.

13. Chimpy's Mental State Is Most Assuredly Detoriating
His ego will not be able to stand the battering he is starting to get.

However, what will happen is that as a result of the criticism, scorn and ridicule, he will get even MORE arrogant and belligerent and even LESS likely to make any compromises or changes to personnel or policy. The mindset of a sociopath like Bush is to dig ones self deeper and deeper into denial and to drag everyone they can into ruin with them.

We might see some sort of public psychotic episode.

His handler's knew he'd be booed & couldn't be sure of what his reaction would be.

16. I think NPR is carrying the speech.
If NPR is carrying it then it *may* be on PBS as well. This is the first of weekly speeches leading up to the transfer of "sovereignty" on June 30.
