Freeper thread just trashing 9/11 families
The 9/11 victims were the great cause for war, but that apparently doesn't translate into sympathy for their families. A sampling:

"No offense to their loss, but screw them. If this mentality had ruled for the last 200 years all of Europe would be one big memorial, as would Atlanta."

"I guess it would be un-"PC" to just say: Shut the F up already!"

"With all due respect to anyone who lost a family member on 9/11, there is no reason to memorialize people who were basically victims of an act of violence. I, for one, will not even pay a visit to any memorial at the WTC site unless it includes the head of Osama bin Laden."

"These people have moved into the ranks of unsaveable socialist pukes. They are quitters."

I'm not surprised in the least by the half-witted rantings of these assholes. More "compassionate conservatism".

12. Civil war whining...
This is sad, but apparently it happens there alot. The other night someone here mentioned Valerie Plame, and I googled around to see if there were any recent stories. I ended up on a Krugman story that someone had posted there and it ( the freeper comments) devolved into a rant about how the soldiers over in Iraq were whining and complaining unjustly, and that they were wimps and should just toughen up. They were all upset because a soldier in Iraq had put a sign on the window of his jeep that said "one weekend a month my ass". They said he was awful and unpatriotic and whiny, and they were also discussing how it was not true that this debacle in Iraq would hurt the re-enlistment rates, one person said if anything it would help, and referring to the sign, they said that it would even attract soldiers with better senses of humor than the soldier that had put up that sign. You really can't set the bar low enough for these folks. I don't know why it is considered a neo-con counterpart of D.U., these folks aren't even in the same league as most people at D.U., when they go on like this they sound like children with terrible cases of Stockholm syndrome.

9. Who was it that picked a somewhat
regrettable thread from DU to include in their commentary? For some reason I'm thinking it was Boortz...anyway, this thread from that online cesspool should be published far & wide, to show everybody how the conservative base really feels about the 9/11 victims & their families. This is pissing me off more than anything else has in the last day or so, & that's saying something.

11. I am going to be "Un'PC'" for a minute to freepers
The freeper crowd exploited the emotions of these people and now they want to leave the desicated husks behind. Why don't all the freepers...YOUR FREEPER LURKERS TOO...YOU "shut the F up." What a bunch of whiny turds. They get their ways on everything, then gripe that victims' families won't kiss their ring.

14. I thought the footprint issue was resolved
I can't believe there are people who don't understand this. They lost no loved ones, want buildings built over gravesites in order to prove how 'tough' America is, and have the nerve to call the family members selfish. These people are just disgusting, I'm truly ashamed to share the same country with them.

16. May I have a couple minutes here?
Thank You.

You know, I can't help but think back to the "town hall" meeting here this past June, where 9/11 victims and families came to make public comments to the memorial design competition jury. The big story of the night was the noise (both figuratively and literally) that the first responders' families made regarding the issue of whether fireman, policeman, etc. were to be identifified as such. There were raw sensitivities exposed on the part of these families that their loved ones' role as 'heroes' was being overlooked, and they were afraid history would forget them, and the glory they felt had been earned would be lost in the dust of ground zero. I remember especially well one woman who got up and accused the memorial rules of being 'politically correct'. And she went on to say (to a rising roar of approval) that the "reason 9/11 happened is that we were too 'politically correct'.

Well, I was pretty hurt when she said that.

I knew right then and there that this woman and her supporters were 'Freepers'. They are blue collar New York. They are the municipal backbone of this city. They are the firemen, policemen, construction workers, maintenance workers, etc...They go home to Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Rockland, and Orange counties, etc... and they are Freepers. They listen to Rush, they read the Post, and they hate Bill Clinton.

Well, I am sorry to report that their fellow Freepers have just shit all over them. And I guess they better learn to buck up and serve the almighty, appointed-by-divine-intervention President Bush. And if they wake up, they might actually think to blame the loser who was in the White House on 9/11, and not Bill Clinton and Al Gore, the guys who actually gave a damn about terrorism, and from what I can see, did a hell of a lot better job of protecting them.

And I am now seriously considering printing out these comments and publicly distributing them at the train, bus, and ferry terminals. Maybe I could put them under a nice banner saying: Hey New York: Here's the true face of Compasionate Conservatism- straight from the hearts and minds of REAL Bush supporters.

17. I'd like to see this on a frickin' BILLBOARD!!!
Let the whole world know what these pukes are all about. Or do they suppose that when they are in freeperland they are "behind closed doors" and do't have to worry about being overheard. A lot of people who wouldn't do so in polite society (when others would hear how they really are) get behind closed doors and tell their racial "jokes" and talk about how they'd like to kill all the "liberals, queers, and mud people." (Please pardon my terminology, I hope you see my point.)

I am just so fucking angry about this I can hardly see straight!! If there is a hell, there is a particularly hellaciously hot spot reserved for the likes of these subhumanoids!!!!

21. How very un-American of these people.
What I don't understand is why there are any posters left at FreeRepublic. I'd think that they'd have all gone out and enlisted right after 9/11.....

Funny, too, how they venerate their pResident who went AWOL, but can't understand how the poor middle-class bastards, who are forced to be human targets for this administration, might question the entire reason why we invaded this country.

If they were real Americans, they'd be outraged with the loss of our democracy and this administration's treasonous actions since the coup.

26. They're probably the same ones who get all weepy-eyed
over that syrupy claptrap song "Have They Forgotten", too.

As long as the tragedy can be sentimentalized in an abstract, pseudo-patriotic way, then it's ok. They can use the tragedy to silence opponents with phrases like, "3,000 AMERICANS died! That's why we're in Iraq!"

But let anyone dare be subversive enough to be emotionally true about what happened, then they're a bunch of crybabies.
