melting even.

SEATTLE - A fire broke out on the Seattle Center Monorail late Monday evening around 5 p.m.

Smoke was pouring out of the blue monorail as it was just on the south side of the Experience Music Project.
There were some passengers on board. Fire crews were able to successfully evacuate all of the passengers and the fire was reported under control around 5:30 p.m.

Officials with the Experience Music Project report that operations there are still normal.

There have been no reports of any injuries at this point, but medics have been treating several people with oxygen masks on the lawn near the scene. Details from the Seattle Fire Department are forthcoming.

Traffic along 5th Avenue near Broad Street and along Broad Street between John and 5th Avenue was blocked for the fire response

3. Probably sabotage by a person who does not want to pay for the
expansion of the monorail which is a hot topic here in Seattle.

13. Sounds like it needed servicing.
Wonder if it was sabotage or something wrong.

10. Happy to hear you missed it.
In the late '90s I just missed being caught in a fire on the Toronto subway. No one died, but seeing the choking black smoke pouring out of the vents at street level was pretty damn sobering. My subway stop had a charcoal smell for two years.

we realized hey, we could just walk.

Elevator. shudder I've been stuck in them only a few times, and not for long. I don't much like it.
