Anyone see the story SF Art Gallery owner attacked?
I saw a snippet on the news today and it shocked me. The woman opened her gallery a year or so ago. One of the artists she represented had a painting resembling the Abu Graib abuses. I saw a quick shot of the painting in question....men naked in hoods in a line and a few soldiers laughing at them. Not really any different than the photos we have all seen in newspapers.

Yet, when she placed that artist's work in the window she received death threating phone calls. I'm not sure if this was before or after she decided to put newspapers up on her gallery windows when she opened her door and some asshole man punched the shit out of her face.

She moved out. The area people begged her to stay. She was in a U-haul van when someone put a mic to her and she said something like "I guess I'm not safe enough to live in America."

Christ...San Francisco?

I wonder where this gallery owner went. For her safety she probably didn't tell anyone, but I wonder if she was leaving the country.

As an artist...I can say...I feel the chill. And not just because my house got hit by a big tree last night.

2. What a coincidence.
It's too bad she had to move away. She let the other side win.

4. To lose is to win...
The other side has been winning. Look what they're winning:

* acts of civil unrest and violence in America, perpetrated by those who want the war and atrocities to continue, for they think that * is solving the problem. (uh, * has made it far worse, with no explanation, nor rhyme or reason. * is an incompetent twerp.)

* Increasing amount of civilized countries openly speaking up against us.

* MORE terrorists and people hurt by the US now finding ways to strike back. With our troops in the region and our demand for oil, there are plenty of juicy targets. Why hurt America from within when they can do it all externally.

* Just wait. India is starting to whine about us too. I suppose that's what we get for stimulating their economy at the expense of our own: For guess what, America has heavily invested in that country. Should they attack our companies (or if Pakistan or India re-engages in their private little war and uses nukes...)

He who wins shall lose.

With "Patriot" Act II looming, I am ambivalent about the "stay or leave" debate. What's left to fight for? Our freedoms are toast. Our citizens hurt. Our economy destined to go belly up, let alone their murmurings of going after even MORE countries, and recently released info that * has even more big tax cuts planned while also cutting more government programs, including some of Homeland Security. All thanks to that stinking offal* in office. No, I am not ambivalent. I'm happy she's left. She deserves to live in a more civilized country.

7. relax. The freepers say she's a nut who faked the whole thing
for publicity and to sell art.

Oh, and if she's not faking, she deserved it.

Man, I wish I hadn't gone over there. I'd almost forgotten what disgusting insects they are.
