THE US Securities and Exchange Commission has a new job opening designed to help prevent employee burnout: an 'organisational psychologist'.

The post, which pays between US$101,000 and US$147,978 annually, aims to 'improve employee attitudes and satisfaction related to employee retention, job satisfaction, burnout, conflict and stress', according to a listing on the SEC's website.

'The position was created to help the agency attract and retain employees of the highest calibre,' said SEC spokesman John Nester.

The top US securities regulator has faced an onslaught of corporate scandals since the collapse of Enron Corp in 2001.
