DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee today announced that they are proud to endorse Congressman Martin Frost for re-election to Congress in the new 32nd district. The endorsement represents the 2,500 police officers who work to make Dallas a safer community.
In keeping with tradition, the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee, which is a non-partisan organization, interviewed both Congressman Martin Frost and Pete Sessions, compared their records of supporting community safety and law enforcement issues, and made their endorsement based on which candidate most strongly represents the interests of the public and police officers who serve them.
“Martin has been a true fighter in Congress when it comes to protecting our communities and working to help police do their jobs,” said Joe DeCorte, Chairman of the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee. “Congressman Frost has shown leadership, dedication, and a willingness to take a bipartisan approach when it comes to protecting the public.”
“I am very proud of the fact that the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee does not make partisan endorsements,” said DeCorte. “We analyze the facts, and endorse the candidate that best helps us protect the community. It is clear that Martin Frost is that candidate.”
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee. Law enforcement officers are the foundation of a strong community, and I appreciate their support,” said Congressman Frost. “For 26 years, I have worked with a wide group of organizations in North Texas, and the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee has shown exemplary leadership because of people like Glenn White and Joe DeCorte.”
Congressman Frost's community safety accomplishments include authoring the Amber law, which cracks down on child predators, and sets tough mandatory sentencing requirements. He also worked with Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison to expand the AMBER Alert nationwide.
Additionally, Frost supports initiatives that make it easier for Police to do their job more effectively. He was an original co-sponsor of the First Responders Domestic Preparedness Act, which directly funds cities to address law enforcement, firefighter and emergency response needs, and supported protecting the existing police and firefighter overtime pay system from proposed cuts. Also, Frost supports police and firefighters in their right to have collective bargaining.
The race for Congressional District 32 has been billed as one of the most competitive in the nation, and the Dallas Police Officer’s Political Action Committee intends to actively campaign on behalf of Martin Frost.
