Tweety Preening: CHALABI & Judy MILLER the Convenient Fall Guys
Tweety is having a great time - GREAT - sticking pins in CHALABI and Judith MILLER. Yes, it is too late to stop the illegal "war", but - WHEW! - all the cable yakkers who worshipped Shrub's (supposed) package are now con-veeeee-niently off the hook: CHALABI and MILLER are the 'goats.

Effing Tweety! How come thousands of us DU-ers KNEW it was a phoney "war" without even being privy to "secrets"? Clue: The Shrubbites NEVER came up with a believable REASON. They came up with phoney story after phoney story that just didn't add up. We knew it from Day 1. How come Tweety didn't?

He's now going after the rest of the NYT, "Why did THEY get it wrong?"

20. So was Robert Novack and he even said so... at the first.
However, just like Novack, once the tide of fake patriotism had swept the land and ChimpCo were absolutely going to have their way, cowards like Tweety, Novack, (and yes even Bowtie Boy Tucker Carlson) slithered like snakes on their bellies to the tune of the "mission".

These people are the real traitors in this country. They are yellow-bellied, low-down sidewinders who don't deserve the time of day, much less any real consideration of credibility.

was "uncomfortable" with it too.

23. Nope. Tweety may have been two-faced which is his nature...
but he has always fallen back to questioning what was going on.

3. I like Wolfe but he is wrong about Tweety and the war...
Even though he loved *'s "package" in the flight suit, he was never on board for the war. He was always very skeptical. This is the only thing Tweety has been consistent about.

15. He never doubted the WMD claims though
and that's what he's on board to critique the Times about. He didn't like the war, but he loved him some bilogical weapons when it made his pink thighs moist.

16. You're right, although Chris, like many opposers, toned it down and
"supported the troops" pretty much through the initial 3-4 weeks of combat, which some may be remembering. Not unreasonable, IMO, especially in sympathy for the lack of adequate forces, supplies, planning, hurried launch, etc., through no fault of the grunts, who, as usual, improvised.

Tweety also was the first journalist I recall who publicly zeroed in on Cheney's office for the Plame treason, early - like a week into it.

Many things I can fight Matthews on, but he smelled a rat in Shrub's unnecessary war, and tracked a rat to the VP's office.

5. Ha-HAH: The Vanity Fair Guy Just Fingered Tweety
Michael WOLFF said he rejects the NYT-blaming, that ALL of the media got it wrong, "and YOU got it wrong, Chris!" Tweety got his deadly snake look and said, "Where did *I* get it wrong.

The dude hit back HARD, "You were on board the WMD thing all the way." Tweety said, "You haven't been watching. I have been very critical of this war from Day 1."

13. Tweety--if not on exact point, all the rest was whoredom at it's best
Yep, he had a lot of questions about the war. BUt goddamn fucking it, he also promoted Bush 24/7 and so often (like everyone of these whores)indicated that Bush really is a wise, good saint surrounded by bad guys. He's got all the blood on his hands just like the rest of them and now they are trying to bail. HOWEVER, (and given Tweety is the guy put in charge of election '04 coverage by NBC), it's the act of trying to blame others over all this that indicates that they want to REMOVE themselves from Bush..........and that, is good news for all of us. I think they are getting skittish over sucking Bush's right ball anymore. I doubt they are going to try to sell us some beautiful gas on this transfer of government in Iraq and try to tell us all is now well and our soldiers are coming home the day after the elections. The whores got busted.

25. Tweety, from my point of view. Listen up, young 'uns.
Basically, Chris Matthews is on our side. He errs, occasionally. He was in the Peace Corps when I was in RVN. That's cool with me. He understands Vietnam better than most other TV commentators. Why? Because he is a smart guy who reads. Back off. Please. Tweety is on our side.

26. Kick for 11 P.M. ET Re-run, But Sorry
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 10:15 PM by UTUSN
My grudge on Tweets is forever. Whatever-Tweety-personality was on our side was last seen, identifiably circa 1988 when his book "Hardball" was published. Tweety started flirting with the wingnuts soon after his former bosses CARTER and O'NEILL were OFF the national stage. The reason? Because Tweety was of the D.C. hothouse flunky mentality where you gain your own status from whether your boss is a "winner" or "loser," and Tweety ADMIRES whoever WINS. He started falling in love with RAYGUN who kicked the rears of Tweety's bosses. When he started his new career, the cable ratings are swung by wingnuts, who tend to be older and richer. He was also mentored by G.E.RUSSERT, who blazed the trail of moving from Lib to "success" by being "fair" to what used to be maligned, fringe wingnut FREAKS. G.E. RUSSERT was the first "Lib" to reach out to LIMBOsevic.

As for Tweety being in the Peace Corps, I admire the first waves of JFK idealists who joined the Peace Corps. And in general, whoever wants to SERVE in whatever capacity ought to be taken at face value. But Tweety makes NO bones about having joined specifically to avoid Vietnam, and NOT on the grounds of rightness or wrongness of the war.

As for his knowledge of Vietnam, he might have read some books, all of this with the hindsight of 30 years' correction, but I was there too and what he spouts about Vietnam and the military is rote information. *I* still don't grok Vietnam, and I don't give Tweety credit for ANYTHING.

The Tweety who was one of us is LONG GONE. He was a de facto Repuke OPERATIVE throughout Campaign 2000 and he has done nothing but spew Shrub-loving DROOL ever since. Whatever crumbs he VERY INFREQUENTLY tosses our way is not worth crap. The wingnuts DON'T TRUST HIM, are willing to USE HIM, to laugh up their sleeve over a supposed "Lib" trashing other Libs, but they DON'T TRUST HIM. We should be the LAST ones to do so.

Repeat, the Tweety who was one of us is LONG GONE and has CEASED TO EXIST. He VOTED FOR SHRUB and has said, "I'm not the Dem I used to be anymore." And he will never be back.

29. He's Just Spouting How Arabs "Sell" Stuff
how they "know" what you want to buy, how they tell you this is for your sister---------crap like that, like he knows. He just spouts stuff he reads.

Back when Enron broke in November '01, then broke hard in January '02, Tweety STUDIOUSLY stayed OFF the Enron story. I used to monitor him more regularly back then. I have NEVER seen him do a story on Enron. What he did all through May of '02 was to do stories on the Middle East. He even did a Geraldo-like ride in a helicopter, riding over ARAFAT's headquarters, and wearing dark glasses. It was very clear that he was SCARED SHITLESS. I submit that he was a pet at the nun's school, the kind who is pampered and built-up, and that he is an ALL-TALK BLUSTERER who is PHYSICALLY a coward.

You should have seen the dirty trick he did on DONAHUE, performing a public execution. He attacked DONAHUE on DONAHUE's own show, calling him a negative Liberal, who is not proud of the U.S., that THIS is what is wrong with Liberals. He mimicked DONAHUE's arm-waving, making like a chimp, saying, "What's THIS???" He is a wingnut operative.

Matthews Momentum: Hardball's Pool-Side Party
Exclusive: CableNewser hears that the D.C. Hardball team celebrated its ratings success on the rooftop of the New Jersey Ave. Holiday Inn today. "There was a little party for the DC staff by the pool," a source says. They ate cake, made a banner that says "Hardball Beats CNN," and distributed T-shirts that said "Hardball Beats CNN April .04" on the front and "Hardball Beats CNN May .04 (Because once is never enough)" on the back. Chris and E.P. Tammy Haddad congratulated the group... 9:03:24 PM

31. Yip, Must Be That FRIEDMAN and David EISENHOWER Charisma
that just RAKES in those second place ratings. Tweety has no trouble beating namby-pamby CNN, it's just that wingnut Fox he runs behind. From the same two links:

*******QUOTE*******

> UPDATE: While MSNBC can (and will) herald its second place spot, it's worth noting that Shep's FOX Report still beat all the other cablers combined. He averaged 1,244,000 viewers. Notably, CNBC's Capital Report averaged only 68,000... 5:08:35 PM

"Hardball with Chris Matthews" looks to continue its ratings dominance this week, as it welcomes Thomas Friedman of "The New York Times" tomorrow night and David Eisenhower, grandson of former President Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, on Friday, previewing coverage of the 60th anniversary of D-Day.
