I think Kerry should go Episcopalian. The liturgy is almost identical to the Catholic church and, as far as I know, they are Christians.

1. Caller talking about the Holocaust and Nazi camps saying that
evil exists. Hudson, of course, agreed. Why doesn't he mention that Pius XII kept his mouth shut about this and therefore was a collaborator with what happened with the Nazis.

7. Not all
But the Catholic Church has forgotten Jesus (except Mel's ghastly beaten movie icon) and is on a vendetta against 'evil.'

Not all are beating the path to fundism but enough to become make it at home among the other religions. Seeing how the Catholics have endured a huge pedophilia scandal it may be the lubricant to slide down with the more radical anti-Progressive creeds in a bid to root out evil.

P.s. Some of the callers are not Catholics.

8. Cultural war. He says Singer (the ethicist) equates animal life with
human life and he represents the opposite of the coin to the Christian view.
WELL, the churches are the ones that believe that humans are superior to anything else on earth and has created this attitude in humans that allows us to destroy anything we want.

11. Catholics are going to Bush because of the Church's campaign against
Kerry? And that Kerry is the guilty one here because he called attention to his religion? OK, I cannot listen to this any more.

12. A Black caller protesting Blacks being Democrats because
they should think about religion before choosing party. Democrats are communists??? If you read Christ teachings, he DOES sound more communistic than capitalist. Except, perhaps, supply side Jesus.

14. Of Catholic Publications
Sort of Conservative lite and a lot of bile seething underneath the tame loyalty for the institution that alone gives them the means to survive, the ads and the readership mostly among the hierarchy and professionals.

I didn't know this mag before, but upon perusing some of its articles it seems to try to emulate the Pope with a strongly conservative undertone jarring against its claims to represent Christian humanism. But then, they are not really in the parrot jungle and mostly get the propaganda of the neocons via cultural osmosis. A remarkably acrid article by the Jesuit Fr. Schall, who teaches poli-sci at Georgetown! Against PC(liberal, that is) and with some bitter scorn for universities in general.

If this is the Vatican version of the Catholic culture school of the Americas they had better confiscate the keyboards and minicams.

Really people, they are trundling out Conservatives wherever they can, whose vocabulary is the same as the Bushistas, but not the same members of the same club. The Church is about 60 million Americans, the vast majority of whom have never seen a Catholic publication other than the mandatory pushed diocesan newspapers. Which are organs completely under the thumb of the local bishop. In fact the big voices of the past, the Cardinals of big cities, today have not much of a national pulpit much less any semblance of national authority.

They'll get as much mileage out of a minority of conservative, barely mainstream celebs as possible- to create a vastly simple political impression.

Many here are swallowing it. Maybe a lot of Catholics are presuming dumbly the same thing, which is the point of the propaganda exercise in the actuiallt tongue-tied, over-litigated, cash strapped, vacuum of American Church leadership.

Like Iraq, it is another lie, another illusion, with the convincing strength of real moral positions as the bait. There are ways to vastly improve the morasl status of America from the Catholic point of view without cultural and political war making an alliance with the anti-Christ(all powers of the World that war against good- not a comic book super-villain) an invisible concern.

The enemy letting the war go forward in Iraq was also the weak and duped Dems. Today it is the weaker and more easily duped bishops. Despite my low expectations at least they have not been stampeded by this media charade. If kept up, I sincerely pray they will get together and stop this public abuse of the Church's authority. Certainly some have, with little or no media recognition, much less fanfare.

It is also the GOP purpose to bait and divide Dems, which seems all too easy at times here. This is the continuing and deeply evil abuse of religion for political ends that is the trademark of the modern GOP. All negative, all divisive, all counter to the real life of faith, all virtues irrelevant to the pursuit of power and punishment.
