Kerry Seeks Virginia's 13 Electoral Votes in November
Edited on Wed Jun-02-04 09:59 AM by JI7
<"Kerry's television and personal appearances in our state will help Virginia Democrats build excitement for voter registration, party activities, and fund raising," Bailey says of her party's presidential candidate.

Kerry advisers see the race in Virginia as close between Kerry and Bush in 2004 encourage the Democrat will spend about $750,000 to saturate the Norfolk, Richmond and Roanoke media markets with his 60-second biographical spots and a 30-second commercial in June, and to run the ads on Washington, D.C., cable channels that reach into northern Virginia.

The Kerry effort in Virginia will add fuel to the underdog speculation that surrounds Democratic Governor Mark R. Warner's chances of being named the Democratic vice-presidential running mate.

Kerry would have to dedicate precious financial resources to seriously contest Virginia without a home state running mate to even the odds against Bush/Cheney.

A Kerry-Warner Ticket in Virginia could be strong throughout the state and especially since Bush is now taking the state for granted. >

1. I don't think Kerry needs to worry about the south so much...
I live in Dallas, and i have seen/heard more support for Kerry than Bush. I think Kerry is going to win by a landslide this year.

2. My Southern family went to the Portsmouth Memorial Day parade
(I'm part of the Yankeee branch). Kerry wasn't even speaking, just showed up to pay respects. Mom had to wait over an hour to shake his hand--the place was packed. Lots of "Republicans for Kerry" signs.

4. Virginia still goes to Bush*
but, Kerry can make him spend a lot of money trying to keep it. This is a good strategy. Take the fight to the enemy.
