RICHARDSON Out. GEPHARDT/EDWARDS In. Boston In/Out.

The oldest-wingnut-gossip-queen-in-the-world-named-"Cindy" runs more Dem tidbits than most Dems. Her heart is with the PATAKIs, but she hangs with the CUOMOs, too.

June 2, 2004 -- NEW Mexico's Gov. Bill Richardson, formerly our energy czar, formerly our U.N. ambassador, also formerly headed John Kerry's VP list. No more. Maybe he's too independent an agent and the DNA of a VP is that he should do no harm. Whatever, Kerry's new maybes are Dick Gephardt the Perennial, whom everyone trots out periodically and is most people's choice as the best human being around, but somehow never seems to be a big-time winner, and John Edwards, the new shiny kid on the block.

More. The Dem convention's historic, wondrous, magical city can't get its act together. Boston's "a few hundred" hotel rooms short of what's needed. Also "a few million" bucks short of what's promised. The city fathers will deny this. Party faithful will deny this. If I am forced to, I will also deny this. However, anyone not already confirmed for a room better schlep along a sleeping bag. As for the money, a host city must provide infrastructure, services, security and other assorted needs. Boston is "almost there." Translation: They're $6 mil short. Being flexible, also patriotic, I am also willing to take this back when they holler. Which they will.

15. Please think Michigan, Ohio and the other
"swing states". Both of these men would pull states in doubt for different reasons.

2. I have trouble believing it's down to just Gephardt or Edwards
Just seems that they would want to have one or two others, if for no other reason then to keep it on the media's mind.

3. Most voters will like a selection of Edwards or Gephardt.
Both of them are perceived as ready to step in as President, just as Gore was in 1992.

4. I'm not saying they would not be good
I just think that they must still be looking at a few other people.

5. I like Gephardt
I just think he's boring as cardboard, to be honest.

6. I Think So, Too. Why Would They Give HER the Scoop?
Re-post from yesterday: Her list of Dem celebrities for the two JK concerts in June::

(Except for the spelling of "Neal" DIAMOND...)

.... Kindly recall I am the first to have clued you about John Kerry's June 10 fund-raiser. I now tell you more. It's called "A Change Is Going to Come." It's 6 p.m. Two hours. Radio City Music Hall. Stars Bette Midler, who's a friend of Teresa Heinz Kerry, Whoopi Goldberg, who's a friend of William Jefferson Clinton, Robin Williams, who's a friend of anyone not Republican. Also Jon Bon Jovi, Wyclef Jean, John Mellencamp and Kerry's longtime Boston pal James Taylor. Exec producer is Jann Wenner, the Creator and Lord God Almighty and main man behind Rolling Stone magazine. ....

The first production is June 7 in L.A. at Disney Hall, featuring Barbra Streisand, Neal Diamond, Willie Nelson, Billy Crystal. "It took several calls to get Barbra. I know her and John himself called her. Then came Neal. Then Willie and Billy. One manager won't commit until another confirms. Lots of egos have to be checked at the door. I had to say, 'Look, don't do it for me. Do it for the country.' The hosts are Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Ben Affleck, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman. No speeches, just intros. ....

"Wyclef Jean opens, Bette closes and she'll also do a 'Do-Run-Run' duet with Darlene Love. We're working on a video about John. Introducers are Paul Newman, Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Jessica Lange, Chevy Chase. Robin does 15 minutes; Whoopi, 15. John speaks at the end of the show."

They figure to raise $7 mil. Orchestra seats are $1,000. For 25G, you can get in on the post-concert dinner for 150 VIPs at a "to be decided" venue. ....

7. I wouldn't worry too much about the thoughts
of a gossip columnist for the New York Post, which is a worthless rag to begin with. Edwards would be fine, Gep would be blindingly boring but tolerable, and I'm sure there are several others still being considered. Still plenty of time before the Convention.

9. My money is on Edwards
Gephardt might be great for a Kerry administration, but Edwards would be great for the campaign, and a terrific standard bearer for the party. Should Kerry win, he will have an important job for Gephardt, no doubt.

This "story" is beyond worthless.

16. Cindy is part of the cocktail circuit of VIP's. Usually, she is
trolling for celebrity gossip, but she's not above political gossip too, kind of like Walter Winchell. Too bad he isn't around, then you would have really gotten the scoop, not to mention he wouldn't have given Dumbya the free pass today's press has.

12. Gepo - "most people's choice as the best human being around"????
C'mon! He's the next Marx Brother! The one who donated his eyebrows so Groucho could hang those giant greasy/fuzzy caterpillers on his forehead.

Gepo - the Rose Garden bushlicker? Only in this freaking Twilight Zone episode of a country we've lived in since W squatted on our Whitehouse.

14. I concur - not Gephardt please!
I was just getting warm to Kerry, Gephardt would be a death-rattle for us.

Put him out to pasture, permanently.

13. Boston only $1.6M away.
She's not doing her homework. Kerry kicked in some more money- the DNC is just $1.6M away from completing their fundraising for the convention.

I am SHOCKED, just SHOCKED to find such misinformation in a Rupert Murdoch publication!

Why do they keep floating his name.
It is such a bad choice and I don't believe that Kerry would do that to us.
