Bush is getting much better at reading his speeches on the teleprompter
It doesn't matter that he doesn't write his own speeches. It doesn't matter that he reads them and doesn't speak from memory. His speechwriters know him well. They make his sentences short and tell him when to expect applause. But that isn't important.

Today, he was on the offensive. One sensed that behind all the words and historical references was a political agenda. It's time to take off the gloves. He took several swipes at those that might criticize the way the war is handled. At one time, he said, "What do they expect those terrorists that beheaded the young American to do if they were not killing ? Devoting their lives to service and charity?" (paraphrasing)

He made reference to how long it took to get the Marshall Plan in place to help the starving Germans after WWII, as a reference point to remind people that this might not go as quickly as some might think or wish. CYA would be how his opponents might define it.

He compared the "war on terror" to WWII several times in different ways. What would have happened if America not acted to counter communism after WWII, he asked? The people waved flags and cheered loudly..

1. The only similarities between
today's war on terror and WWII is that Hitler was the terrorist in WWII and today it's Bush.

2. Clip on Letterman yesterday: He couldn't pronounce DONOR
how hard is it to read and say D-O-N-O-R ???

And the only way WWII is similar to the Iraq war is that a fascist leader (Bush) and his corrupt Government is invading other countries.

3. I think the comparisons are despicable
and I'm more convinced than ever that there's no God after listening to that load of shameless evil crap. Any god worth worshipping would smite his loathesome ass, unmistakably and hard.

4. I thought
we chose to leave Russia alone after WWII? Wasn't Patton chomping at the bit to go after them, fully expecting another war with them anyway?

I must have my wars mixed up - maybe I'm thinking of the first Gulf War (GW-I - now we're in GW-II?)?

5. BULLSHIT chimpy
If he had gone in and cleaned up Afghanistan instead of fucking up Iraq the war on terror would be over. Iraq had nothing to do with terror and you are no fucking Roosevelt. You sir, are a lying asshole.

7. He must have liked this speech. He mentioned it yesterday when
reporters asked him questions he did not want to answer. When they said they would not be at the speech he said something "you can watch it on C-SPAN--you get C-Span, don't you?"
