Bush giving Speech on CNN -- sounds like canned applause?!?
I've heard of the first Bush doing this on a speech in Panama. It's on CNN international right now.

I swear you hear a couple guys slapping their hands together very slowly. Then they crank up the applause which sounds like that of a football stadium.

It would be really funny if they were doing this. It'd be pretty embarrassing too.

Does anyone know if this is standard procedure?

I'll ask them later, when they get home, about the applause response.

2. My buddies and I made the same comment ....
...when we saw him speaking last week. The applause sounds like someone hits a switch - instant on, then instant off. It wouldn't surprise me.

Were the students told they have to give him a standing ovation in order to get their diplomas?

4. LOL besides being the lamest speech ever...
the applause sounds canned to me too.

I noticed they havent shown the audience in front of him,
dont they usually show the audience when everybody gets all 'hyped' up :eyes:

5. How can Kerry compete against all this free airtime?
The media has obliged Bush with lots of free airtime since he first ran for president, and now it's providing him with a big advantage over Kerry by covering every speech he gives to everyone. If you want to see Kerry give a speech, you have to watch C-Span. I'm concerned about Kerry's chances of getting airtime during this campaign season. And the media pundits are always saying "The voters don't know who John Kerry is." No shit.

6. It's always this way with an incumbent pres..
but...Kerry needs to start speaking up.. He needs to ramp up his "displeasure" about *.. Goodness knows there is a plethora of "ammo" for him to use..

What I would like to see too, is Kerry actually showing up at a Cheney event, and walking in and saying.."You sir, are a LIAR"..right in front of the cameras..

Would security actually refuse him entry?? I think not.. THAT would be Must See TV :)
