Concentrate Campaign On Gay Marriage Amendment Bush Advised
(Washington) The conservative base of the Republican Party is urging President Bush to stop campaigning on Iraq and concentrate on stopping gay marriage if he wants to win in November.

Bush met today with James Dobson, head of the conservative Christian group Focus on the Family in Colorado. Dobson is a leading supporter of the a proposed constitutional amendment to bar legal recognition of same-sex marriages.

Dobson reportedly told Bush that conservatives are divided about the US role in Iraq, but united in fighting same-sex marriage.

His position echoes that of another leading conservative, Paul M. Weyrich.

These "conservative" republicans are pathetic.

2. I heard on Tweety's show last night that Bush has to go on the attack
because he can't run on the war or anything else. He would do better to attack Kerry than defend his record.

This could backfire. All Kerry would have to do is show Bush's record that he is running away from and that Bush is betting the farm on hatred of homosexuals. It is like the politicians in the South who use to be anti Black to win elections.

3. Smells like teen spirit
No wait; it smells like desperation!

If Stupidhead makes gay marriage the centerpiece of his campaign, I'm all for it! While he's jumping up and down on a molehill, the mountain will cruise placidly by.

4. ha ha, they are so desperate
When they start gay-bashing, you know they are lost. The rank and file church going Christians don't want to get into fights with gays, since that's their kids, aunts and uncles, friends, and co-workers.

7. I don't think they're correct
I remember reading a story recently that backers of an anti-gay marriage constitutional amendment have had trouble generating much heat over the issue even in their OWN CHURCHES! I think that reasonable people have WAY more on their minds than the threat of Bob and Ted getting married.
