Looks like the CIA is at war with the Neo-Cons.
One of those who has defended Chalabi is Richard N. Perle, the former chairman of the Defense Policy Board.

"The CIA has disliked him passionately for a long time, and has mounted a campaign against him, with some considerable success," Perle said Tuesday. 'I've seen no evidence of improper behavior on his part. No evidence whatsoever."

Perle said he thought the CIA had turned against Chalabi because he refused to be the agency's "puppet." Chalabi "has a mind of his own," Perle said.

American intelligence officials said that the FBI investigation into the intelligence leak to Iran does not extend to any charges that Chalabi provided the United States with incorrect information, or any allegations of corruption.

American officials said the leak about the Iranian codes was a serious loss, because the Iranian intelligence service's highly encrypted cable traffic was a crucial source of information, supplying the Washington with information about Iranian operations inside Iraq, where Tehran's agents have become increasingly active. It also helped the United States keep track of Iranian intelligence operations around the world.

24. Yup, CIA got a rude awakening, just like a lot of people.
BushCO went too far.

Perle has some nerve. You know that he's been pals with Chalabi since they met as students at Wohlstetter's house. Not kidding!

4. CIA isn't stupid...
granted they have no use for democracy or rule of law, but they do prefer to maintain a low profile, and not make America's imperialist ambitions obvious to the entire world.

6. The neo-con ship is gonna be sinking
When the CIA gets into a fight, they can make life a living hell for any member of the administration.
They know what has been going on, and when they talk, it is all over.

7. I don't know, this seems like wishful thinking.
If the CIA is seriously after the neo-con-men, they have to take the lead dog down, i.e. Bush*. And if they are trying to do that, they are being very subtle about it. Way too subtle to actually bring him down.

13. NOOOO Sh*t!!!!
Believe me, the CIA knows from subtle!

I've had the (mis)fortune to know one or two former spooks in my raddled existence and they are deadbang crazier than shithouse rats... and meaner, too, if they have to be.

And yes, the CIA has a *very* long memory and when they set their sights on "getting" someone, that someone is seriously "got"!

NEVER cross 'em! I figured when Tenet got it and then Plame was outed, this administration and its hsangers on were in for a whole *world* of hurt...... eventually.....

And eventually... is all it takes.

9. It's called "The Death of a Thousand Cuts", each so small as to do...
...little harm by themselves, but taken together will cause a man to eventually bleed out.

I'd say we're over halfway by now...and FratBoy is starting to really feel it.

16. Who knows more than the CIA about overthrowing governments?
Subtly, to be sure. Coups and putsches are far too obvious. It's best done in a way that can pass for the normal political process. A carefully planted newspaper story here. A well-timed leak there. A privotal government official discredited and forced to resign. Careful manipulation of the popular mood.

Alawi was always the CIA's man. For him to come out on top in Iraq, while Chalabi is discredited, means the CIA has already won a major battle against the Neocons. Expect more to follow . . .

10. Code breaking would be the domain
of agencies other than the CIA. Exposing that codes were broken is a matter that could drag new players into the game... very powerful players.

These players would, perhaps, rather stay in the background, so we might not hear much from them. However, I think that we can take it for granted that they are very, very pissed.

12. National Security Agency, others...
They would be very unhappy about Plame being outed, even though she was in the CIA.

Spooks stick together.

14. Don't you love these stories?
I absolutely LOVE when we get to see a Clash of the Titans. Stand back! Make some room cause there's going to be a fight.

It seems there's a lot of that right now. The situation in Iraq is going down the toilet. Suddenly, there's lots of finger-pointing and blaming going on. The scramble is on to find a stooge.

And yes, I did hear that the CIA declared war on the White House last year when they went for the jugular with Valerie Plame.

They've just been biding their time, sharpening their knives and watching the fools in the WH stumble and fall.

Heh he they probably figures they could just wait it out, and the idiots would self-destruct with no prodding from the CIA.

But now, maybe it's time to move in for the kill. I heard on the radio that Bush just got himself a special counsel for the upcoming hearings on Valerie Plame.

19. An eye for an eye...
And the CIA has lost at least one agent (Plame), several front companies, and an entire network. I don't think that they'll be satisfied with mere embarrassment. No, they want heads to roll...Rummy, maybe Cheney, and the whole neo con gang. Powell's wriggling around trying to blame them for faulty intelligence on the WMD issue might cause him to take it in the neck, as well.
If this is right, then we can expect a crescendo of revelations, each one more ghastly and trancendental than the last, until they've had their due. That they are coming to reporters with this stuff may also explain the growing boldness of the heretofore supine news media.

25. If they were alive, you could ask...
...John Kennedy and Richard Nixon if they thought they won their fight with the CIA. John Kennedy got into a large-scale disagreement with the CIA over Cuba, Laos, and Vietnam...and lost rather dramatically. Nixon thought he could blackmail the CIA into helping him fend off the FBI's investigation of Watergate...and ended up making his position quite a bit worse.

As to who is the most ruthless with the deeper pockets, I wouldn't bet against the CIA. They've been at it quite a bit longer, and have the keys to ALL of the skeleton closets owned by the NeoCons.

The NeoCons opened Pandora's Box, now they're going to have to suffer the consequences.

26. Neo-cons are toast. They've blown it, and exposed themselves
as idiotic idealogues. They've been forced out into the light, everyones blaming them for the mess in Iraq (as well they should) and Al Gore is calling for their resignation. They will be lucky to get out of this without jail time. Some of them WILL serve jail time. Absolutely.

23. I suspect/predict
that in retaliation for the Plame leak and taking the blame for "faulty" intelligence re: Iraqi WMDs, the intelligence community may be preparing an "October Surprise" of its own for the coming election season. Bye, George.
