Here's why I'm spooked.
Remember how we felt a week before 9/11?
The 2000 selection was coming into prominence, the facts of the selection and the Florida coup stories were coming to a head after months of being told to "get over it"....The Bush presidency was spinning wheels, his fraudulence and lack of substance was becoming TOO obvious, the economy was tanking, Enron, etc etc...
9/11.
Bush is god.
OK. Here is a date. 6/25. Fahrenheit 9/11.
I think they know they will not survive this. I think they intend to survive. I think I'm spooked. Because (up til my being spooked) I feel like I did a week before 9/11.
It's too good for us. And it's so bad for them. Which means it can't happen. You watch. I feel sick.
Plus, the farce of their Iraq plan will be shown for what it is on 6/30.
I have no idea what or if we'll be celebrating July the 4th.

1. I know what you mean
What new evil deeds are they planning? Everything seems to be crashing down around them but they appear unconcerned. Makes one wonder what they know that we don't. Scary.

4. nope . . . I don't watch ANY tv news or commentary . . .
and I feel exactly the same way . . . I've felt all along that BushCO will NOT allow Kerry to win, and will do whatever it takes to insure that it doesn't happen . . . what makes it so scary is that these people have absolutely no compassion, empathy, or true regard for human life . . . particularly the lives of poor humans (who Bush once commented on: "I don't understand how poor people think") . . . ANY losses are acceptable in their crusade . . . and with the destructive power they control, one has good cause to be very, very worried . . .

3. Don't buy into it. Just relax, and enjoy your summer.
Seriously.

I know that nobody likes to be proven wrong, or naive about something. I'm well aware that conventional wisdom indicates a major terrorist attack this summer. Where? How big? Who knows?

I do know one thing... I have no control over what will, or will not, happen. I am not going to succumb to their pressure, to forget about the everyday joys of my life so that I am consumed with fear. There's nothing I can do about it. If it happens, it is my sincere wish that it is something from which we can all recover, and that we'll move forward with our collective goal... regime change in the United States.

I'm just going to enjoy this summer. If you can, even for a moment, give your thoughts a rest, homelandpunk. You won't be giving in, and you won't be naive either. But you have to keep yourself strong, and healthy, and ready to handle whatever comes next.

5. The only thing you have to fear
is fear itself

FDR.

Those words are still true today, and it was scary back in the depresion... for other reasons

8. Well said LavaLady! Don't Succumb to their "Fear Factor" message...
...while I agree that these smug creeps in the White House seem to be over-confident and acting as if they aren't too worried about Kerry (when they really are) and that things aren't going so well for them, and that the chances of something "big" coming our way is inevitable, I think if we all buy in to their "Fear" tactics, we will make them successful...

Homelandpunk - Better to "relax and enjoy the summer"...Think optimistically and that you need to stay strong...this summer/fall is going to be a Marathon, not a sprint and we need you and others not to fall into fear...

7. Remember the quote Bush couldn't get out straight?
Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

You really think they could pull another 911 and have everybody forget everything we've all learned in the last three years?

On the other hand, I do think they're worried about something.

I think they are picking up increased "chatter" and are genuinely spooked by it.

I think there are major world events percolating under the surface -- like whatever is going on with China and Taiwan -- that they know they don't have the resources to deal with.

I think the financial system may be on the edge of a precipice.

I think a lot of bad things could be going down -- but another 911 is probably the most unlikely.
