Story from May 25: Tenet and others to go for part in assassination plot
against Bush.

I'm not sayin' it's so. I'm just puttin' it out there. Make of it what you will:

May 25

Sources close to the Bush administration have informed ThoughtCrimeNews that CIA Director, George Tenet, Secretary of State, Colin Powell and Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, will be forced to resign their positions, possibly before the end of this week.

Whilst some would consider Tenet, Powell and Armitage to be team players in George W Bush's administration, our sources advise us that in fact these three have been caught out on something for which there can be no reconciliation.

As yet, the media are largely unaware of the recent events involving these three characters, namely a plot to assassinate President Bush and Vice-President Cheney as well as Speaker of the House, J Dennis Hastert and Senate President Pro Tempore, Ted Stevens. In the event that these four individuals were to be killed, the next in line to the US Presidency would be none other than the Secretary of State, currently Colin Powell.

1. Tinfoil overload.
Ummm... NO. Colin Powell is NOT the second coming of Richard III.

This rumor isn't even worthy of a response.

Quite possibly. So why grace it with one?

8. You got me.
Kind of a Catch-22, isn't it?
I mean, I can't say I wouldn't respond without actually responding, could I?

I seriously doubt the truth of all this....but it's an interesting brain-gym exercise. That kind of coup would have been too easily exposed, it seems to me.

Powell might have given Kerry a run for his money, however, in November! The repukes couldn't even HOPE for such luck as to be rid of bush and have Powell on the ticket. They're going to be stuck with the bush team same-shit-different-day fiasco, I'm afraid <NOT!>.

I'm just hoping Tenet finally "outs" the whole regime, and the whole 9/11 LIHOP/MIHOP. Tenet KNOWS where all the bodies are buried.

4. Then powel will instate the draft
of kids with SAT scores greater than 1550 and eat their tasty brains. This will give him the power to go back in time and make sure Hitler wins World War II.

:wtf:

5. Fiction based on
Admiral Canaris and the generals' plot against Hitler. Wrong personality types for such an extravagant crisis and none of those people ever appear together anyway.

Did Colin puncture W's bike tires? Did Tenet try to sneak in to fix the microwave in Cheney's Fortress of Solitude? And who knows what Armitage had up his sleeve in that poker game with Stevens and Hastert.

PreCrime-Conspiracy theories- worse than the real unreal thing.

Isn't there enough on the plate already?

6. So...
those three plotted a coup, the assassination of the President, the Speaker and the President pro-tem, got caught, and their punishment is to be forced to resign?

And they all plotted this to make Colin Powell President?

from "Israeli movers" to amateur metallurgy with the WTC debris...every time the bar for paranoia gets higher someone goes over it effortlessly.
We should be proud....

10. I know, I know - it's kooky-crazy to suspect the CIA director of
conspiring to kill the president.

What was I thinking, to even post such a suggestion?

Perhaps you are trying to identify a core of conspiracy theorists and the incredibly gullible for some nefarious project?

25. It's not that such an act isn't plausible, it's the idea that they would..
...even come close to getting caught at it.

IMHO, the other thing that kills this story is the fact that the NeoCon Junta didn't IMMEDIATELY "detain" the plotters and make a big story out of it.

9. Could be....the timing for Tenet leaving is bizarre
I alway thought Tenet was wanting a way to get rid of these guys.
My wishful thinking was this...
Tenet would wait till Bush and crew were about to fall over the edge of their new world order cliff and he would be the one to give the final boot kick over.

I don't have much respect for Powell anymore but I still think he's smart enough to know what a stupid move that would be. It's one thing to get away with killing one of those people, but all four? This rumor could be mere exaggeration. I do believe there is a plot to get rid of the * and his cohorts but I think it's as simple as bringing him down and getting them tossed out of office. No use killing anyone when they can be history in a few months.

12. Crazy sounding? Certainly. But BushCo's been asking for a military coup
I've been sort of surprised there hasn't been one. Military is pissed at them - the Intelligence community is pissed at them...it goes on and on - and if they were plotting another MIHOP/LIHOP attack - I doubt people like Tenet and Powell would just sit back and let them do it.

15. I'm with you. The military's pretty much had it with these guys
and I'm sure there's a lot of talking in secure rooms about what can be done.

I think Bush threatened Tenet and Tenet called his bluff and resigned. That's what I think, but what the hell do I know?

16. It would never happen. Not in security mad 2004 Washington DC
One assassination, especially if it were an "inside job" might be possible. But four on the same day?? Highly unlikely even 20 years ago. Next to impossible now.

Nor could I picture Colin Powell being the leader of such an operation. Now Wolfoshitz, this would be more his style. How far down the line of succession is that son of a bitch?

18. I wouldn't see Powell as leader, but I could imagine him being
approached to step up, for the "good of the nation."

I'm not sold on the story either, but that it appeared last week, and announced Tenet's resignation was to come this week, makes it, I think, worth noting.

19. Today Armitage hints "he could soon leave"
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage said on Friday he could soon leave office, a remark sure to fuel speculation the No. 2 U.S. diplomat and his boss, Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites), will not serve another term.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040604/pl_nm/politics_armitage_dc_1

Sources close to the Bush administration have informed ThoughtCrimeNews that CIA Director, George Tenet, Secretary of State, Colin Powell and Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage, will be forced to resign their positions, possibly before the end of this week.

Hey, I'm not saying it's so. In fact, it's highly improbable. But Armitage's statement does add another hmmm.
