Will Tenet's resignation allow Bush to solidify power?
The CIA was pretty angry with Bush and this would allow Bush to put his man in charge, expecially since the Democrats don't have the courage to turn Bush down on his appointments.

On the other hand Tenet could start talking.

1. Only if he disbands the CIA
and turns the functions over to either the Pentagon or Ashcroft.

My money would go to them putting Intelligence as a function under the heading of the pentagon.

3. Tenet is bad enough
And it was disgusting the way he sucked up to Bush in his resignation speech.

But, yea, the next problem is that Bush will appoint a full-blown neocon wacko to head up the CIA.

4. Is Tenet just getting out
of the way of the CIA? If the CIA is paying back for the Plame thing maybe Tenet is giving them free reign to go for it.

6. This is exactly what I believe
I posted it in this thread, and others have figured it this way too:

Tenet is simply getting out of the way so the CIA can finally "have their say" about the way things really are.

Of course the CIA is not given to hyperbole, drama or even self-identification. The shitstorm cometh, and it will be stealth.

The shitstorm cometh, and it will be stealth.

I just love it.

10. When you discuss Tenet, you really don't know what...
...you're talking about, do you?

Tenet and the CIA has been responsible for about two-thirds of all of the anti-NeoCon leaks since the exposure of Valerie Plame.

And as far as Tenet's resignation speech is concerned, you never give your political enemies any more ammunition than they already have.

5. Seems simple to me. They're setting up the Intelligence Agencies...

... to take the fall for the upcoming Senate Intelligence Committee Report on Iraq WMDs; the 9/11 Commission report is due out at the end of July, and is also likely to come down heavy on the various intelligence "agencies."

Seems to me Tenet fell on his sword, and in doing so sold out his beloved CIA to take the upcoming summer heat instead of Bush. This move deflects all blame away from the White House. It's all being done to protect Bush and set him up for November.

12. Try this line of thought...
...what can Tenet do now that he no longer reports to the NeoCon machine?

Tenet's "beloved CIA" knows exactly what's gone down...look for more heavy leaks to slam into the NeoCons.

And as far as anything reported by the 911 Commission, keep in mind the heavily-GOP political make-up of the commissioners on that panel.

9. No. The new DCI is going to find some mighty rough surf as...
...the anti-NeoCon leaks from inside the CIA increase in intensity.
