time to refresh our memories re: Iran Contra?
Apart from the obvious Poindexter misstep, and now the mention of James E. Sharp, who represented Richard V. Secord during Iran/Contra, there is a lot to be learnt from the history of 20 years ago with respect to Iraq/Iran now.

your thoughts?

1. History has been repeating itself over and over and over...
We let the snakes slip out then and here they are back again. Someone had a wonderful post the other day about why we need to really ruin these people. Remove them from the government and from positions of power. Make their names synonymous with corruption and evil.

4. Yeah, like they have done with the word "liberal".
Pisses me off sometimes.

2. Oh. That never happened
Abrams, Poindexter and Negroponte are good, upstanding officials in Bush's government, who would never dream of lying to Congress. Maybe you're thinking of some Democrats?

3. Good place to start is with Sam and Robert Parry's work at

www.consortiumnews.com

Lots of good stuff there..and Parry was the reporter that broke the Iran Contra story originally...another one of those so called conspiracy theories at the time that turned out to be true.

5. Don't forget Colin Powell's part in the arms-deal end of Iran-Contra.
Powell is 3-for-3 now, in his at-bats in out-law operations: 1. His participation in the cover up of the 3/16/68 massacre of civilians at the Vietnamese hamlet of My Lai-4; 2. His involvement in Iran-Contra; and; 3. His complicity in the illegal invasion of Iraq and the subsequent slaughter there.

6. He's going to escape. He's the most articulate and savvy of the bunch
The biggest thing on him is the UN bit, and he's relished in recounting his 'disappointment' to Russert et al when the opportunity has presented itself. It will probably disappear, since no one is making any sort of big deal about the 'chemical plant', the 'mobile weapons lab', and all that. My Lai, Iran/Contra, he got away from those easily enough.
