Things I like about Soon-to-be-President John Forbes Kerry
Edited on Fri Jun-04-04 12:36 AM by Alerter_
Kerry came out swinging - as soon as it was obvious he was going to be the nominee, he went straight for the jugular and made a joke of Bush's fake flight costumes and AWOL status in the Guard - the Bush team panicked and made fools of themselves. Kerry 1, Rove 0.

Kerry met with Nader, did not insult the left, and did not attack the Democratic party base. There were a few DINOS like Lieberman and Zell Miller who tried to make a name for themselves by attacking the Democratic party. Kerry never stooped to that, and while Kerry may be a moderate, he's a Democrat and refused to try to splinter our coalition.

Kerry only kow-towed to Corporate America as much as he had to. Kerry followed Kucinich's and Dean's lead and attacked the "Benedict Arnold CEOs" when Bush was weak - sure he had to apologize later, but now the establishment is generally on Kerry's side. Contrast Kerry the pragmatist with the willing corporate whores that usually infect our party. Kerry came out of the "sausage process" pretty damned clean, all things considered.

Kerry has not jettisoned the "left" base of the party for crazy DLC "New Democrat" schemes. Kerry never alienated anyone, but he kept his options open. His savvy politics I hope will turn out to be a great boon for progressives in general.

I hope Kerry continues what he's doing. If we get the 45-5 state landslide I expect (barring a McCain/Guliani ticket) I'm sure Kerry will do the right thing, reestablish the Democratic party as the party of middle class Americans, and begin to repair the damage that the Bush regime has done to our country. I can't wait to vote Kerry and a straight Democratic ticket for Congress! :)

2. great post.
I honestly had a feeling Kerry was my candidate from the moment of his speech after Iowa. This guy was NOT kidding around. I changed from Dean to Kerry in 4 minutes. He's serious, intelligent and knows all about battling dirty lying scums like the ones in The Bush & Cheney Crime Families.

3. Kerry has impressed me greatly
I was not a fan in the primaries, I'm generally a cynical person, but I'll admit that Kerry has greatly exceeded my expectations for the Dem nominee. As far as I can tell he's doing almost everyting right. I do honestly expect a landslide, and sometimes I hope Kerry will be FDR II. It's possible! Kerry could easily outshine JFK!
