4. Pol. Sci professor at our local college thinks it will be
Gephardt or possibly Edwards. He analyzes Kerry as being very cautious so he says not to expect anything bold and innovative from him.

8. I don't see what Gephardt does for him.
but I am scared to death he will be chosen. And I say that as someone who likes and appreciates Gephardt. I just think he would be terrible for the ticket. Jay Leno is probably praying for it though, so he can haul out all his boring, whitebread jokes.

9. I hope it isn't Gephardt either and would prefer John Edwards
if the choice is between the two, but the same prof said that Edwards charisma and star power outshines Kerry's and would cause him to fade into the background. He says it will depend on whether Kerry can accept that fact or not. Gephardt is appropriately a part of the drapes and furniture guy, though.

18. I thought labor was supposed to win it for Gephardt
in Iowa. They weren't terribly effective.

13. I agree, it wwill be a big surprise!
I keep thinking about all the VP choices of the past. Who whould have thought Cheney? I never heard of Gore. Who the heck is Dan Quale? George H. Bush??? Mondale? Spiro Agnew??? Lyndon Johnson? I must admit, I'm more of a political junkie now that I ever was in the past, but aren't we all usually surprised by the choice for VP?

15. Judy, you slut, you are late of course. It's decided, but you won't know
it until one hour after EVERYONE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY finds out (why? This ain't coming down from your pal, Dick)

16. Any credible Judy's left?
Judith Miller, Judy Woodruff, Punch and Judy. She is the last sort of person I would expect to get a leak or a scoop from the Dems and get it right.

17. They probably gave her a false leak on purpose.
"Let's tell her that we're close to deciding on who's going to be the vp. Then we'll deny it after she reports it. Serves her right."
