Does bush suffer from Schizophrenia? Or is it Dry Drunk Syndrome?
From the medical text books:

Criterion A of Schizophrenia requires two (or more) of the following, each present for a significant portion of time during a 1-month period:

delusions
hallucinations
disorganized speech (e.g., frequent derailment or incoherence)
grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
negative symptoms, i.e., affective flattening, alogia, or avolition

Seems like a it's pretty clear . . .

1. he has been a sociopath since childhood
now suffers from dry drunk syndrome

something is clearly more deeply wrong with his brain, as he now claims to hear voices, which is evidence of psychosis.

4. Article about a dry drunkards thinking

A drunk hides nothing from another drunk. So when I look at Bush, I don't see a conservative Republican, a flirter with the Christian right, a Texas oilman, a son of political royalty. I see a guy like me who never wants to quit, who has an infinite thirst and an infinite appetite for whatever you've got and who, if he could, would drink up the whole room and then tear it apart looking for more. I see a guy barely containing a murderous contempt for anyone who doesn't drink like he does; I see a guy who has to pause when answering questions not because there's nothing in his head but because there's too much in his head and most of it is vile and the rest is obscene; no doubt the first thing that pops into his head when asked a question at a press conference is "You have the face of a barnyard animal" or "I'd like to fuck you silly." That apparent blankness, as though his brain is having a rolling blackout, is actually a sign that he's sorting, looking for an answer that's both true and bland, something that won't set off any alarms, something that will satisfy his need to tell the truth yet not give in to the grandiose and contemptuous impulses so familiar to alcoholics far and wide.
Again, those who think he's merely slick and calculating might argue that what I see in him -- the barely contained rage, the gaps in thought, the glinting hunger for a never-ending party -- is simply further evidence that he's a dry drunk, and that whatever Christianity he's laid claim to is just a pose.
He does seem to have a mean side. This can be seen in the chilling relish he displayed in an interview with Talk magazine when imitating death row inmate Karla Faye Tucker's voice ("'Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, 'don't kill me'") and the alleged Fourth of July incident in which he dismissed a man who said he disagreed with his policies, saying "Who cares what you think!"

8. what is "dry drunk syndrome"?
Dry Drunk is just a term invented by the quasi-religious twelve-step movement to disparage anybody who quits drinking without undergoing their "spiritual" regimen.

Believing that such a syndrome exists and is only curable by belief in a "higher power" is akin to believing in faith-healing.

13. He is not a Schizophrenic
If you worked in the mental health field you would know that. I don't even think it is humorous to suggest he is, since the disease Schizophrenia causes real deterioration over time in the frontal lobe. A Schizophrenic shows real brain involvement. They are unable (usually) to hold an extremely complicated job over a long time, especially one with the stress of being president.
That said, he is definitely a dry drunk.

15. I had an uncle who suffered from Schizophrenia
for over 30 years and held his position as vice president of a publishing company the whole time. There are different degree of Schizophrenia and I think bush has a quagmire of mental health problems :)

26. There are actually
a loose cluster of diseases that are labled schizophrenia. A true paranoid schizophrenic, for example, would suffer froma markedly progressive deterioration. Your uncle apparently had another type.

Still, calling bush schizophrenic is not accurate or funny. One person above listed several "causes" of the disease, all but one of which were no even close to true. The other lists of symptoms on a couple posts showed equal ignorance of what this disease actually is, and what it is not.

Bush certainly has a severe personality disorder. He also has admitted to a history of substance abuse. He is an obnoxious fellow in his own right.

Schizophrenic people, on the other hand, tend to be good and decent people. Ignorant talk about the disease creates further obstacles for people who suffer from mental illness. Here's a fact: schizophrenic people are far more likely to be the victim of a violent crime than guilty of commiting one. The news media doesn't report this. Please do not add to the mountain of ignorance that causes problems for other people.

28. Easy . . .
It was taken from a mental health website . . .
http://www.mentalhealth.com/book/p40-sc02.html

Why can't bush have a deteriorating mental condition? Is he somehow immune to it?Did they give him some kind of innoculation against brain disorders? A lot of people have it and it might explain part of the reason for him being a complete and utter failure as a president. . . .

My uncle was diagnosed with Schizophrenia by a very well known psychiatrist, he seemed no worse than bush, actually he seemed better . . .

30. Of course he could.
It's just that he doesn't have any of the symptoms that would indicate he has a schizophrenic disorder. One of the first rules in diagnosing mental illnesses is to never, ever, under any circumstance whatsoever, compare the subject with one of your relatives. And I'm not just saying this because you speak of your uncle.

Again: my concern is that we do not make giggles about people suffering from cancer, strokes, or other diseases. We do not make fun of people from different races, sexual orientation, etc. Mental illness is a legitimate life experience. It's not a joke.

Is to blame Bush's behavior on serious chronic mental illness is not right. There is such a thing as being an irresponsible jerk and I think this fits Shrub perfectly.

24. I agree. In my mind, a mental disorder would be a kind interpretation.
It sort of mitigates the fact that what they're doing is very calculated and intentional.

23. From 'The Smoking Gun:' Doofy Dubya
This video was shot at the wedding of two repuke-associates in 1992 - and he's supposedly been a teetotaler since 1986. You see him diss the couple for not drinking more, and you can't tell me that he hasn't been drinking something stronger than ginger ale. Watch him suck the last drops from his glass as he walks away from the camera.
