Bush disses the French the day before his visit to France
ROME - (KRT) - As Iraq war protesters marched through the Eternal City on Friday, President Bush put some of the blame for bad global feelings on his French counterpart Jacques Chirac.

Asked by Paris Match magazine, "What went wrong?" Bush replied: "You need to talk to the French leadership."

The White House released a transcript of the interview the day before Bush flies to Paris to meet with Chirac about more help rebuilding Iraq. The French president vehemently opposed the war.

Bush added that he has "great respect" for Chirac, but the two simply disagreed on what to do about Saddam Hussein.

"I've had friends all my life, who I call friends, who didn't agree with every decision I made," Bush said. "And Jacques made it perfectly clear to me he didn't believe the use of military force was necessary."

That doesn't mean Chirac can't visit the Bush ranch, the president said, though he didn't exactly send a gold-plated invitation.

"If he wants to come and see some cows," Bush told the magazine, "he can come out there and see some cows."

Posting this here because the article's title was so misleading. It said "Thousands Protest visit by Bush" and nothing about these non-Presidential comments.

9. It also displays his stupidity. America got its cows from Europe
Why would Europeons need to come here to see cows when they had cows hundreds of years before we did.

5. IMHO there won't be much
A certain respect for the commemoration, PC, actions by the Government and almost 20000 police officers will limit the amount of visible protests.

6. I call bullshit!
From the article:

"I've had friends all my life, who I call friends, who didn't agree with every decision I made," Bush said.

______________

I'd challenge Stupidhead to name just one person who fits his description, and who will back up this bullshit assertion. Bushy don't brook no disagreement with his imperial whims.

7. I hate the way Bush uses foreign leaders' first names.
"Jacques made it perfectly clear to me he didn't believe the use of military force was necessary."

He referred to Secretary General Annan as "Kofi" the other day.

Does he want them to refer to him as "George" in their public statements? I mean, he went apeshit when that one reporter called him "Sir" instead of "Mr. President" ("Who are you talkin' to!?!?" he barked.)

What a freakin' Jacquasse.

17. They said on the news that the Chiracs and the Bushes
would have a private dinner together after all the official business was over. Do you think freedom fries will be served with the escargot? If I were Madame Chirac, I would plan such a menu.
