Armitage says he's about to quit? BushCo falling apart at the seams!
Sheesh! Beginning to wonder if by the time the Evil War Chimp returns from Old Europe - he'll have a misadministration to return to!

1. Sounds like he's not considering another term
I don't think Armitage would leave before the election, like his boss Powell. Besides, isn't he PNAC?

2. Armitage is a hardass, but not a neocon
He was a cold war hardliner, I think, but he's in the Colin Powell camp in this administration.

5. True. He's not really a neocon (though he may look like one!)

3. Why announce it now? Certainly doesn't help Chimp reselection campaign!

4. I've seen Armitage speak just a few times on teevee
He's always sounded like a straight-shooter.

6. He was the CEO of CACI (Iraqi interrogators/contractors) and still
seems to have "connections" with them so I don't know how much of a straight shooter he really is.

8. It's hard to say
for certain. In his recent appearance at the hearings, as seen on tv, he seemed intent on making clear that there were distinctions between him and the "boys." Yet he clearly plays a role in this administration. Perhaps he and C. Powell did speak against the war behind closed doors. And perhaps his plans to leave are his way of publicly showing his distaste for what is going on. He's an interesting character, clearly having more of a grasp on the realities of world politics than cheney etc.

7. I remember months ago
Armitage saying he and Powell would not be in this administration If it was to be reselected or whatever.
