Why should any of us care about Reagan?

What did he do for us? Did he care about us? Hell no. Why should we care about him?

He has, as president, managed to bankrupt the country. He managed to supply weapons to the terrorists that we're fighting today. He had a failed economics policy that made the rich richer the poor poorer. He crapped all over the poor and he didn't care. He managed to scare us all into a 1984 scare with that whole "Star Wars" thing.

Don't think I'm an asshole or anything...I just want one good reason why I should care about Reagan, besides his Democrat son.

...then the amount of time spent on the story, and the tenor of the eulogies, may have some effect...especially if it shoves other stories off the front page.

5. You should care about what he did to this country

Reagan was the mouthpiece for the same dark forces in charge now. In fact, he was the means by which they copped so much power. For Ronald, the Presidency was the role of a lifetime, and he played it to the hilt-so much so that there are people who actually think he was a good President instead of the mouthpiece puppet of Big Buisness. He got into office in a questionable manner (Iran/Contra) and was able to successfully remain in power by thwarting the investigations. The neocons and multinationals watched and learned from his methods. They've decided that this time around, they can do it with someone without a SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) card, and they've found themselves in a morass. My bet is they'll be looking around for their next 'spokesperson' soon after Chimpy's defeat. If they luck out in their casting call, we must be vigilant and not let them fool the country again.
