Sorry, I can't get excited and cheer Reagan's death
You have to be better than the cold hearted repukes. When someone dies, no matter if I liked them or not, I try to show the dead respect, just because it's the right thing to do. I won't feel any emotional reaction when Reagan dies. No sadness. Certainly no joy. It'll just be another day for me.

1. What is done is done.
Reagan has been out of commission for over a decade. His policies may unfortunately live on, but his death is not a triumph. He's just an old man with Alzheimer's slipping away into oblivion.

2. I don't get the happiness about anyone's death, either.
It's mean and embarrassing. Seems some people have more compassion for Saddam Hussein, or OBL, than a dying old American, who happens to have been a president. Shame.

3. I simply want to hear the damn TRUTH about him, not this myth bullshit
that's been perpetuated since he left office.

Reagan's administration was the model for Bush's. Bush took what Reagan did and multiplied it by powers of ten.

Tax cuts. Bush does them mainly for the rich, and big ones.

Defecits. Bush has run the defecits to record levels.

Lying. Bush figured "hey, Reagan just lied about everything, and people bought it, so I'll lie about really important shit all the time".

Letting his cronies in power engage in illegal activities. Ditto.

Pull the wool over the American people and using the media to convince them that he's a "regular guy" and all that kind of shit.

The only thing I can say good about Reagan is that he conveyed a positive image, and people liked that.

People like a positive message, and Reagan delivered that.

Please, just no BULLSHIT ABOUT REAGAN.

We should call the media on their bullshit, and call the right wing on their bullshit.

Reagan was the foolish puppet of SCOUNDRELS. That is his true legacy.

7. "People like a positive message, and Reagan delivered that."
That's something I wish we could learn. I have high hopes for Kerry. I like the soldier image, the hockey player image...

Reagan was essentially a good hearted country-raised boob used by unscrupulous dimwits. Bush is purely the latter. Bush is like Ronald Reagan without the character. I liked Reagan but hated his people (and the policies they disguised in 50's patina for sale to schnooks). Bush I flatly despise.

I hope they let Ron Jr. speak at Reagan's funeral. Ron Jr. once said that his dad "crapped bigger ones than George W. Bush."

5. I personally wish
he could live forever. I dread the day and the week he dies. His name will be everywhere. I'll bet there are neo-cons who can't wait. It'll give them a chance to orate and worship and compare the great Reagan to the great Bush.

after he dies and they start carving his nappy-ass on Mt Rushmore I'll be the first one there protesting.

9. Bravo.
It's a shame to have to say Bravo when someone simply abstains from saying hateful things about the dead and the dying. Some of these posts today make me fear for the future of the Democratic Party.

You don't speak ill of the dead and dying.

10. apology accepted
but is "no emotional reaction" really a sign of respect for the dead?

"No sadness. Certainly no joy. It'll be just another day for me" is a fairly tepid example of respect.

As long as you're not excited and cheering I guess you really are doing the right thing. Congrats.

11. I'm just glad it happened when it did, and not in October
Could you just see the Repubs using this as a rallying cry in early November? It's bad enough they're exploiting 9/11 with their convention this year-- I could just imagine them playing the sympathy vote up on this.

That being said, I feel more sorry for his family, having to watch him deteriorate for so long due to that horrible disease than I do for him. Finally, he is at peace, and will suffer no longer.
