Think about Ron Jr. and Patty...
I don't don't know about the rest of you but Ron Jr. and Patty seem like pretty decent human beings, so let's not get too venomous with the passing of their father.

BTW, I abhorred the Reagan administration and vividly remember the incidents they are imfamous for, so no flaming please.

9. Michael was the adoptive son.... which would not ordinarily matter a bit..
but, I have to wonder if it did not have some impact and explains a lot as to his desperation to be more RW than Pop...

17. I just saw Ron Jr recently
on tv. He was the tv announcer for the Westminister Dog Show. It was on one of those cabble networks. I watched a few minutes.

Then I turned to poker championships and saw Vince Van Patton announcing that.

Where are they now? ...

12. Ron Jr. is the man
I believe it was a salon interview discussing WMD's in Iraq, Ron Jr. said something to the effect "yeah, they're probably on their way there in a C-130 to be planted". And don't forget the Hinkley family are close with the Bush crime family.

13. I like Ron Jr.
He was hillarious on MSNBC during the primaries. He doesn't share his father's politics. He's pretty cool.

15. Michael wrote a pretty nasty book about his parents
although Nancy isn't his "parent." Jane Wyman is. Anyway, the book is "On the Outside Looking In." He tells of being shipped from one boarding school to another, and being molested by a camp counselor and never telling anyone. His dad barely even spoke to him while in the White House, and never acknowledged his grandchildren till they were about 3 years old. Since Ronnie was unable to speak, Michael reinvented himself as the son of a loving father.

19. Her latest book is about angels
She's had some kind of religious experience which has made her much more friendly to her parents, especially her dad. Apparently, he talked religion with her a lot as a kid and it is now relavent to her.

Very short book. Interesting.

The part I remember was she had a boyfriend who beat her up and when it would happen it would show up in some magazine and she would be in fear and shame.

What turned her life was going through old stuff and finding a religious poem her mother gave her years before.

An interesting journey. The title has the word angels in it.

16. Even Nancy has come around a bit ....
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 11:30 PM by 2004 Victory
She came out for stem cell research which Bush is against. Also, Patty is a declared Democrat. Ron Jr. made the following comment on MSNBC about the 2000 elections... "We won in 2000" ... and he was talking about Al Gore and he said "we". Nancy absolutely despises the BUSH family. During the Reagan Administration, the Bushes were NEVER invited upstairs and had never even seen the private quarters at the White House until GHWB's inauguration. That says a lot.

Michael is the adopted son of Ron Sr. and Jane Wyman and was never close to the new family, or his father. In one of her books, Patty says she was about 10 years old before she even KNEW about Michael and Maureen. Maureen became close to her dad in adulthood through politics, but Michael was always an outsider and has been profiteering with the RW'ers. A real creep.

But when someone dies, the sympathy is for the family, and this family endured a lot of pain in the past few years with Reagan totally incapacitated. Have a heart, folks.

18. Ron and Patti are righteous.
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 12:23 AM by playahata1
I HOPE that Nancy will come around -- as in a complete 180.

There is a fine Salon article -- reprinted on Democrats.com -- about Junior and his distaste for the Bushes, his love of his father, his work for liberal causes, etc. I have never had a problem with Junior and Patti. Don't know much about Maureen. Michael, that's another story.
