Reagan Memorial - Plans already leaked - (Pics)
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 08:40 PM by NewHampster
Paris, France June 5, 2004

In a potential embarrassing leak, White House reporters have learned of a secret Ronald Reagan Memorial Committee which has been reviewing design proposals even as the former president lay dying. Congress is expected to receive a funding request by early October with a vote due in early November. More as the story unfolds...

2. no way....
I can't find words to express my utter outrage. A memorial to Reagan? The AIDS epidemic is Reagans memorial. The national debt is in large part Reagan's memorial. The institutionalization of class division in America is part or Reagan's memorial.

I'd suggest maybe a bronze train wreak sculpture, but that one's already reserved for the chimp-in-chief.

7. The Conservative Movement is on the decline.
The timing to push a Memorial to Ronald Reagan is all wrong. By the time the November elections come around, this will become clear. What's more, I always said that once Reagan died, the ugly secrets of his administration will be revealed.

9. Most administration officials sent to jail, criminals, crooks, drug runner
It wasn't Reagan himself, but his administration was one of the most corrupt in history, present administration aside.

18. Nixon, Reagan & Bush II
All Republican presidents and all with corrupt administrations. The only thing that saved Bush I is that he handled the first Iraq encounter intelligently and he never made it into a second term where his mistakes would have followed him. However, Somalia was his mistake.

3. Rename Washington, DC as Reagan. DC to honor - and to fit Airport?
This was being said - in all seriousness - by GOP types on Capitol Hill Tonight.

GOP Senate loser Joe Malone on WBZ on Laval's show made mention of this!

13. How about renaming some federal prisons after RR?
No president has had more convictions among his appointees than the Gipper.

5. That would be illegal
There are laws in DC that no building may exceed the height of the Washington Monument.

It's a joke.

14. Let's just legally change Reagan's name to
Ronald America

Then everything will be named after him and we won't have the expense of building so many monuments.

15. Mount Rushmore?
I remember talk a few years ago from Reagan worshipers who wanted to carve his image into Mt Rushmore. I'm guessing we'll start to hear that talk again.

16. Say goodbye to the popular Jefferson nickel or FDR dime
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 12:38 AM by wuushew
I predict the nickel will be changed within the next two years as it's aesthetics have already been ruined by the Louisiana Purchase commemoration.
