Nancy could not stomach Bush Krime Family
"bad blood" between the two families ... Nancy could not stomach the Bush Krime Family ... maybe has something to do with the fact that Neil and Jeb Bush had dinner with Hinckley family 2 weeks before John Hinckley shot the Gipper.

4. This is true
I don't know why this observation is drawing derisive remarks from people here....it is in fact quite true.

The Bush family felt they were "entitled" to the White House, and were openly condescending towards the Reagans, who were not only not "aristos", but had been in *Hollywood!* (shudders!). Barbara was the worst of it, as she is the biggest hater in the clan.

Nancy Reagan is no saint, but on the other hand, she is very poorly understood. Now that President Reagan is dead, more of this stuff -- the bad blood between the two families -- is going to come out, and I know it will change people's perceptions about what was going on behind the scenes.

A lot of the vitriole and the "talk" about her was orchestrated by Barbara, and later, and far more viciously, the Bushistas, who did it to shut her up when she confronted them for endangering her husband's adminstration by taking advantage of his illness and running secret operations out of his office.

Mrs Reagan has watched in horror as the idiot son of one of her enemies was placed into power by the same people who were operating in the shadows of her husband's adminstration. She considers George W not only an idiot, but a dangerous extremist. The Bushistas have attempted to supplant George W above "the Gipper" -- indeed, W hasn't even paid lip service in tribute to Reagan in any of his speeches since he took office -- which has been very hurtful to the family.

This stuff will start to come out now....there's a lot more to this....

5. Bush I and Reagan where opponents in the primarys.
Recall that Bush I was actually the standard bearer of the moderate GOP wing in the primary seasons vs Reagan.

Reagan was the man of the hard -right..the movement conservatives and the religous right.

Odd, to think, that Bush II is the creature or ally of the same people who supported the opponent of this father.

6. Hopefully Nancy continues to go after Bush re: the stem cell. Maybe
this will make her even MORE p.o.'d about it.

Personally, bad as Reagan was - IMO he's a saint compared to Bush. Bush is more in the camp of Hitler, etc.

would love some corroboration

makes perfect sense, but I'd like references to back it up when I start ranting about this to my Reagan-worshipping friends

8. Wasn't there a Kitty Kelly biography of Nancy Reagan?
in which Nancy related some facts embarrassing to the Bush family. I believe it was something to the effect that George H.W. while VP under Reagan had an auto accident while drunk and with a girlfriend in his car, that the police had to be dissuaded from taking any action, and that Reagan and his staff had had a good laugh about it.
