A Warning From RightNation.Us
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 10:48 PM by DougieZero
I was luring around RightNation and saw this thread: http://www.rightnation.us/forums/index.php?showtopic=41313

When I was over at the DU, looking at the rather vile crap being vomited all over that board, I came across a couple of people that I know, IRL.
Guess what? They work for me!
Come bright and early Monday morning, I am going to call them into my office and fire them.
Not because of what they said about President Reagan, but for what they said about conservatives, and Bush-supporters. I looked up their posts over a period of time, and was disgusted. They both implied that they were giving them a lower level of care.
I can no longer trust them to provide the proper care for those that do not agree with them, or their politics. I cannot have that, and I will, By God, NOT have bigotry of any sort within my staff.
So, they will lose their jobs. They have no business being in EMS if they feel that way, and are doing what they say they are. So, I will have to go through all of their run tickets, and audit them for problems.
I cannot take the risk of having them employed by our company. Especially in a lawsuit-happy society.
The fact that I will, for the first time, take great personal pleasure in firing them is nothing more than a side-benefit. If they were woking tonight or tomorrow, I would have to pull them of the squads, because of this.

But, It should make them happy. They'll have one more thing to blame on conservatives

he then said:

I will be firing them based on the fact that I can no longer trust them to provide care equally to all people. This really isn't the first time that I have had questions about he kind of care they have provided, but it does give me the link that I was looking for.
We are in a very conservaitive community, where a very large majority supports Bush, Republicans, and our troops, and we are not afraid to have signs or bimper stickers proudly displayed saying so. I have recieve complaints from police officers and fire-fighters about their attitudes, and manner at times, but it was sporadic. I simply did not see the connection. Until today.
I am not worried about violating any laws by firing them, and after talking to the owner of the company a little while ago, he said to get rid of them. I'll have the company lawyer with me when I do it, just to make sure.

My primary is, and must always be the people who entrust their care and safety to us, always. There can never be any consideration that rises above that.
All other considerations are secondary, as they should be.

Admittedly, I will derive great personal satisfaction from doing my job in this case, but again, that is secondary.

55. How do you figure?
He's saying that unions are there to fight for people that are fired for doing their jobs badly - that's rightwing thinking.

Unions are there to fight for people who are UNJUSTLY fired - WRONGLY accused of doing their jobs badly.

The poster's assumption seems to be that unions will keep BAD employees on the job. Don't you get where I'm coming from?

It could be just as you say, and the poster thinks the employees are innocent - and he believes in the phony premise that the guy actually fired somebody. I just got the feeling that he was jumping at the chance to get in a subtle dig at unions.

Which is what I believe he was saying. We need unions to protect us from people like him - those who'd accuse us of doing substandard jobs as a pretense for firing us.

Of course, I could be wrong. I don't know.

61. Wake Up
The Right Wing asshole is threatening to fire EMT's for their public, political positions. For your info, I'm a B.A., and I deal with this type of situation every day. My public, political position is that defeating George Bush is the most important job we have this year, and we better understand each other if we are to succeed.

7. If I were them - I would print off that post and keep it. It is illegal to
fire someone for political beliefs. Good for you to give the people a head's up. You may give them ammo for a lawsuit or prevent them from being fired. That dumbass had best read the next person's post and take it to heart:

"Advocate, be damn careful. Man, you could get popped big time if you fire someone over their political beliefs. If they said they did but didn't really do it, watch out.
As an employer, I know you know the rules better than I, don't mean to tell you your business. Just be careful"

That wing nut better have some DAMN good proof that they said they were giving people a lower level of care - which I doubt.

80. My interpreteation of the rightwinger's (fictional) story...
Was that these supposed "DUers" were deliberately giving poor treatment to GOP patients out of malice. IF the scenario were true, they SHOULD be fired (depending on the severity - I'm assuming he means not changing bedpans or bedding, ignoring them)

But anyway, I think the vast majority of liberals would be ethical enough to treat their patients (or customers, passengers, whatever) decently and fairly, even if they were GOP scum. I know I would, and I despise repugs with the best of them...

Anyway its a phony made up story - not worth much more discussion...

14. What is a conservative
doing in human services in the first place?
Showing his "compassion" to his employees?

Since most people entering an ambulance are in no condition to discuss politics,
and since conservatives have been known,
on many and several occasions,
to support the gunning down of ambulances and the outright murder of ambulance drivers,
what exactly is that pervert doing in that field?

If that freeper twit fires anyone,
then he is guilty of doing so simply because of their political affiliation
which is the exact same thing that the damn hypocrite is accusing others of.

I wonder just how many people are going to DIE
as a direct result of that rightwingnut's misdeeds.

more than bullshit to me. How the hell would the poster know who the people even were, anyway? Second, even if it isn't bullshit, he would never be able to get away with it. You simply CANNOT fire people in that type of job (EMS) for political beliefs and for what they post on a message board on their own damned time (if they were doing it when they were supposed to be working, that's a different story but that doesn't appear to be the case), it just can't be done. Surely the poster knows this and is just being macho.

And he's in for one helluva lawsuit if it is real and he does pull this shit. And how in the hell would an EMS person know the political persuasion of a patient, anyway? Do people have liberal or conservative stamped on their fucking foreheads? I don't think so.

And how ironic, a repuke wingnut complaining about the bigotry of someone discriminating on the basis of political beliefs, how deliciously ironic!!!

On edit: Again, how the hell would he know who the people posting even were, much less that they were his employees? And how the hell is he gonna prove that it's really them when they just have screen names?

Don't worry about his "oh I'm REALLY firing them because..." shit. A jury will see right through it.

Let him fire you - then retire early with his money. Better yet - donate it directly to the democratic party.

edit: Also - It would be sad if he THINKS he knows the person(s) here work for him, but actually do NOT and he ends up firing the wrong person(s). Oh well, guess they get to retire early.

Also, how would he know "who" is behind an ID? He doesn't say he looked at the profiles and that would be the only way I can see it possible to "know" the posters. How could he possibly know...and for not just one, but two?!

Something smells funny about the post when you look at his declaration of searching and knowing two DU members that work for him.

wants to be a big shot and is trying to impress the idiots on his regular board. How the hell would this moron even be able to figure out that someone here is an employee of 'his' (NOT). I bet the guy's real job is cleaning out toilets, he's delusional. :silly: :freak:

56. This reminds me of the rightwing posts on Yahoo!
Where they say "All anti-bush, anti-American posts have been reported to Yahoo!"

And they imply that homeland security is going to visit you or whatever (as if Yahoo chacks out their posts at all - LOL)

They also like to brag how they "fired a liberal" or "raped a liberal" or whatever. YOu can never believe a word these people say - even more subtle stuff like this.

I would venture a big fat zero. It goes totally against their ideology of me me mine mine. BS at it's best.

63. Note from a former paramedic here:
First of all, I can't remember the last time I saw a privatly owned ambulance; by "private" I should clarify myself and add that by "private" I am not including hospital based service providers. The days of the funeral home ambulance are pretty much over.

Hospitals, cities, and counties have fairly strict guidelines for firing people...if this guy is on that much of a power trip, he is in for a pretty rude awakening Monday morning.

Secondly, I'll be damned if I can remember another paramedic/firefighter on DU. There are a couple of nurses here....but, not any prolific EMS folks that I can think of--hope I didn't just insult anyone by calling them "forgetable!"

My conclusion is that this poster on the other board is trying to move his imaginary legend from his mind to the internet.

Stephanie

75. bingo!
That was my read as well. Can't remember any such conversations... not only about emt work - but about giving lesser service based on political affiliation... and that two - working for the same company - would be discussing this outloud on DU - right?!?! Give me a break. Guy wants to look big and bad. Will be rather interesting to see how he "follows" this little tale up. Wonder how long the folks on that board will believe the dude. Nothing like watching someone burn up their credibility while trying to look studly.

I'm actually a registered Democrat. My voting history:

2000: Al Gore
2002: Jennifer Granholm
2004: Howard Dean (michigan primaries)
2004: (will be) John Kerry

Go ahead and put on your tinfoil hat if you want though...

the guy spouting off. Story doesn't stack up. Wonder how he will keep the myth going and how long before he screws up his own lies to his buddies onthe board and they figure it out.

I only know of 2 DUers who have freely given out specific info of where they work.

This is so lame. Hey Dougie, do you really think you are scaring us? You must have delusions of grandeur.

74. If that happens - PLEASE go directly to HR
insist that this looney contact security and have them bring HR to his office. And while you are at it - contact the media - all of the media in your area.

The company lawyer will advise him not to do it - take my word.

We're talking big bucks here guys. Let em do it!
