Talking to a Repub
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 09:09 AM by rpannier
friend of mine in Korea. We meet once a week. He's in the army and I used to be in the army. I got him to agree to go to "Liberal" web sites. This took awhile. The other day he told me how confident he was that shrub was gonna get re-elected. I said, "How do you figure?" He said, "After reading some of the sites, it's obvious you guys aren't really behind Kerry. Like the rest of us (Americans), you don't trust him. In the end most of you (Liberal-Democrats) will abandon him and vote for someone else or stay home."
I pointed out that the criticism of Kerry did NOT mean that we were not going to vote for him. I'm more to the center than Kerry is on many issues. I have friends who are more to the left of Kerry. But in the end we've all said we're gonna vote for him in November despite our misgivings. I stressed, "We will always point out the short comings of our guy -- we don't hide them like you (republicans) do, because that would be dishonest. But, when the day is done it's a choice between positive change or shrub. It's a no-brainer."
He told me he disagreed and said he'll be laughing on election day.
They just never get it. I guess we're too subtle and deep for them.

1. I think Democrats are "feel thinkers" and we speak up if we disagree
on a issue with another Democrat whereas Republican are told how to think and what to say or they keep their mouths shut since they don't want to be condemned for having their own thoughts and opinions.
ELECT KERRY 2004!!!!

2. We actually believe in (gasp) open and honest debate
Kerry has shortcomings, as all of us do. There is actually a republican here in Iowa who, when he was still in the first district, I voted for a couple of times simply because he's an honest man who looks out for his constituency instead of always taking the party line. His name is Jim Leach and an awful lot of repubs outside of Iowa seem to dislike him. That, to me, proves that repubs can't deal with someone who actually thinks for themselves. But tell your friend that while some may not agree with Senator Kerry's stance on every issue, we sure as hell are united against bush and will all come together to defeat him in November.

"We will always point out the short comings of our guy -- we don't hide them like you (republicans) do, because that would be dishonest."

Hide the negatives about the gop candidate and hope no one notices. But with a docile and obedient media these days that's increasingly easy to do. Why else would we have had Ronnie and the chimp?
