The Bush D-Day sermon...
Edited on Sun Jun-06-04 09:36 AM by hexola
How many times did he use the word GOD?

He made it sound like D-Day was a Christian Mission. I think he seriously mischaracterized D-Day...

This speech was a great example of the mind-numbing effects of religion...Bush doesn't use rationale...he just figures what ever happens is God's will...

7. I ain't kidding you... around 15 years ago, in the supermarket, I picked
a religious pamphlet out of curiosity... and it said that Christ spoke English! Kid you not.

2. Compare to Reagan's D-Day speech...
Reagan only mentioned God and Religion in passing....and used it in what seemed a far more presidential and appropriate way...

Bush sounded like Jerry Falwell by comparision...

4. That's because....Reagan was NOT a born again religious fanatic.
Reagan was still the "old generation"...part of the "great generation"
that this country is losing.
I'm not going to praise Reagan but the only thing that I will state
is this: he loved the US. He was proud to be an American. He knew
what this nation stood for. Note something else: 8 years of Reagan
but no wars....just like when the US was led by Clinton. The bushistas
cannot say the same.

6. a snippet
When the invasion was finally over and the guns were silent, this coast, we are told, was lined for miles with the belongings of the thousands who fell. There were life belts and canteens and socks and K-rations and helmets and diaries and snapshots. And there were Bibles, many Bibles, mixed with the wreckage of war. Our boys had carried in their pockets the book that brought into the world this message: Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

note: the Bible entry....also what the hell was up with those hugh black sunglasses Laura had on..damn she looked like a freaking idiot!!
