Iran Contra Criminals
Reagan was not indicted for anything to do with Iran Contra because he was so disengaged that he didn't know what was going on. Here are the names of the criminals who worked for Reagan:

Elliott Abrams -- Pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors. Pardoned by Bush.

Carl R. Channell -- Pleaded guilty to a felony. Two years probation.

Thomas G. Clines -- Convicted of four felonies. Went to jail.

Alan D. Fiers, Jr. -- Pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors. Pardoned by Bush.

Clair E. George -- Convicted of two felonies. Pardoned by Bush.

Albert Hakim -- Pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. Paid a $5,000 fine.

Robert C. McFarlane -- Pleaded guilty four misdemeanors. Pardoned by Bush.

Richard R. Miller -- Pleaded guilty to a felony. Two years probation.

Oliver L. North -- Convicted of three felonies. Won his appeal on the grounds of immunity.

John M. Poindexter -- Convicted of five felonies. Won his appeal on the grounds of immunity.

Richard V. Secord -- Pleaded guilty to a felony. Two years probation.

Duane R. Clarridge -- Indicted on seven felony counts. Pardoned by Bush before trial.

Caspar W. Weinberger -- Indicted on five felony counts. Pardoned by Bush before trial..

Joseph F. Fernandez -- Indicted on five felony counts. Charges were dismissed when he claimed that he could not mount a defense without access to classified documents.

1. Well done.
Thank you for that information. I believe that should be one of the central focuses in the national discussion about what Reagan meant to America. Likewise, we need to remember that Senator Kerry's role in exposing this scandal was even more patriotic than his fighting in Vietnam.

2. Would a similarly disengaged Democrat President also be spared
impeachment by the Repukes for similar seemingly high crimes?

3. Reagan was not disengaged
He was the patriarch of the bunch!

Please, don't believe the lies about him not knowing what was going down. He as much as admitted to it when he said "it wasn't wrong."

He was guilty of high crimes. He only beat the rap because people believed he was just a senile old man. Let's not further the lie, eh?

7. Reagan = Criminal?
For the most part, the Iran Contra criminals got away with it. Reagan's own role in it was never investigated, because the conspirators agreed to keep his name out of it. The issue is whether Reagan was really all that disengaged, or whether he simply chose to look the other way. Personally, I think he chose to overlook felonies committed by his appointees.

For a political naïf, he certainly had a lot of criminals around him. The list of people who were found guilty does not include Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, who was pardoned of Iran Contra offenses even before his trial.

4. I once saw a paperback book that included everyone
ever indicted or convicted from the Raygunz administration. Reagan, by far, has the record for most people in an administration indicted or convicted. no other administration holds a candle. The Reagan administration, by definition, was the most corrupt in history.

So when they claim Clinton was the most corrupt in history they are dead wrong, don't know what they're talking about and flat out lying. Reagan by far, had the most corrupt administration in history.

I've been looking for that book for years. I forgot the title but it was in the late 80's or early 90's when I saw it.

5. We had Reagan by the balls, then
He was cornered and trapped. We could have ended Reaganism right then and there. But we didn't. Instead we have lived with being "trickled down on" ever since. Geeez.

Ya know how he escaped?

He escaped because too many people said: "Don't say bad things about him, he's just a senile old man. Have some respect"

Last night I heard too much of the same kinda shit.

8. Reagan handlers who did not get indicted are some of Bushs'
handlers and there is always a major merchandising effort in progress with these people. They go to extraordinary lengths to present a front of goodness and honor to cover up all the thefts and lies.

A major part of the effort to impeach Clinton was to par Nixon. Some said as much in talking head sessions on cable programs.

Declaring Reegan a saint was and is a necessity of propaganda. Reagan was a tool - an actor they could mold and crown. And all the deaths of humans and policies could be camouflagued.

They got away with plenty under Reagan - they're having a tougher time under Bush and Cheney.

Ordinary citizens are finally waking up. It's not time to stop exposing the politics of the Reagan administration.
