Some non-DUer remarks on the passing of Reagan

Had dinner with some friends, here's a sampling:

"I couldn't bring myself to summon the grief"

"I was not proud of my initial reaction" (he later said it was visceral, he REALLY hated the man)

I think we all feel similarly, just that some more readily let it all out.

1. I talked to my grandfather the other day

This was yesterday after we learned of Reagan's death.

He said before Raygun he could go to any hospital for healthcare since he was a veteran (of WWII).

Raygun took that away from him.

2. if people think we were bad...

You should glance at the vitriol being posted on the AOL message boards. Interestingly enough, no one seemed particularly worried how freepers or right-wing radio hosts would react to it, no dressing-downs over Man's Inhumanity to Man.

I was a little surprised, actually. The media's been telling us for almost 48 hours how universally loved he is.
