Reagan Presents Wreath At Nazi Grave site
One thing that I always will remember about Ronald Reagan, that bothered me was knowing that he spoke at American Nazi Party rallies in the 1930's. And his questionable appearance in 1985, to lay a wreath on a S.S. Nazi grave site, at Bitburg, Germany. As hundreds of Germans booed at this gesture, his reason for the symbolic act was "that they were also victims of WWII."
Now I am wondering if surviving members of the Reich, or their continuance will return the favor?

10. No surprise.
The nazis achieved the modern historical pinnacle of right-wing, anti-democratic government. It is fitting that a right-wing leader would honor those that worked so selflessly to bring about Hitler's right-wing utopia.

4. Yes, this is just one of the many
action by this "affable, good man" as some here on DU insist on characterizing Reagan. ("Well, he was a Nazi apologist, but, hey, he was a good man." ... Sheesh.)

6. Affable, my ass
Ask his children about that. Michael has problems defining his relationship, Maureen died very hurt by him (he even stabbed her in the back when she tried to run for the Senate) and Patti and Ron both wrote nasty books about him.

The wreath I can picture, it's the rallies I have a difficult time accepting. Why is this not a bigger issue?
Ed. - Anyone have a link to some Reagan/ Nazi rally information?

7. Why Isn't A lot Of Facts An Issue?
America is glorifying a world class asshole! There are many issues pertaining to this so called X-prez. I only wish May Brussels was still with us so she could bring you the truth about this virus (Raygoon) that plagued our Nation.

Do you realize that Prescott Bush was a major benefactor to Adolf Hitlers Nazi war machine? If you do realize this and believe it, you shouldn't have a hard time with just some of the involvement that Raygoon had with the Nazi's

9. Yes
I was aware of this, and find it equally disgusting, but Prescott Bush was not a celebrated President of the United States, nor was he celebrated as some sort of noble, anti-authoritarian hero. So the fact that Ronald Reagan actually spoke at Nazi rallies is difficult to grasp. I'm not saying I don't believe it, but I don't formulate opinions without evidence first.
