Question about Reagan's Presidential abilities
Okay, I admit that I was too young to pay much attention when Reagan was in office. But after watching the media coverage over the past 48 hours, I have a question.

Could Reagan really cut down a Redwood tree with one swing of his dick?

2. Aaah...I see.
But what I still don't understand is, if we had the second coming of Jesus as our President, why did Clinton have higher ratings when he left office?

5. I guess Jesus isn't all he's cracked up to be
this reaganapalooza is beginning to seriously annoy me.

You'd think Santa Claus died or something. Almost no one is telling the truth about anything.

3. two very useful books on the subject
Landslide: The Unmaking of the President: 1884 - 88, by Doyle McManus and Jane Mayer (she co-authored the excellent Strange Justice, about Clarence Thomas)

On Bended Kneee: The Press and the Reagan Presidency."
Mark Hertsgaard

snip from Landslide......

Reagan was so detached during the Iran-contra scandal that aides signed his initials to documents without his knowledge. Says an aide to Howard Baker of Reagan's underlings, "They told stories about how inattentive and inept the President was...They said he wouldn't come to work - all he wanted to do was to watch movies and television at the residence."

lots of fun stuff here, about Reagan, Bush, and reminders of what idiots Bush/Quayle were

http://www.quickchange.com/reagan/1988.html

example

Asked about the Holocaust during a rare news conference, Dan Quayle calls it "an obscene period in our nation's history."
Reminded that the Holocaust did not take place in America, he explains that "in this century's history" is what he meant to say.
"We all lived in this century," he says, adding "I didn't live in this century."
