Wolfowitz lets rich white people play with war toys for a week
Something tells me that the people that go on this field trip are nothing like the troops. That's why Wolfie has to introduce them, it's probably a safe bet that no one they know is fighting in Iraq.

WASHINGTON, June 7, 2004 — Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz welcomed civilian business, academic and local government leaders from throughout the nation to the Pentagon today to kick off a weeklong schedule that will offer a firsthand look at the military at work in the war on terror.

<snip>

Following their meeting with Wolfowitz, the group received briefings about how the military works and toured the Pentagon, including the National Military Command Center.

<snip>

The group will leave later in the day for a whirlwind visit to military sites supporting the war on terror. During the trip, participants will fly on military aircraft, experience aircraft landings and launches from Navy ships and observe amphibious landings, urban area combat techniques, special operations assaults and other warfare demonstrations.
<snip>

But one of the most important opportunities, he said, will be to meet "these incredible young men and women in uniform" as they carry out their missions in defense of freedom. "They are Americans like you … a cross-section of this country," Wolfowitz said. "They are the best-trained, best-equipped force in the world. They're incredibly brave — and they have to be."

1. I doubt very seriously that
this is a cross section of America. A true cross section includes the poor, near poor and middle income. These types would never be allowed in the facilities these people are touring.

Osama bin Laden in the back left? You'd think they wouldn't want the guy visiting the National Military Command Center.

9. Right, the Ehime Maru
sliced in two by the USS Greeneville. Several of the playboys on board had ties to Enron.

http://starbulletin.com/2001/02/10/news/story1.html

The nuclear attack submarine that sank a Japanese fishing ship yesterday 10 miles south of Diamond Head was practicing an emergency surfacing procedure when it collided with the Ehime Maru, the Navy said today.

Nine people are missing from the Japanese vessel, which is operated by the Uwajima Fisheries High School. Of the missing, four are high school students, two are teachers and three are crew members, the Coast Guard said. A search for them went through the night and continued today.

I thought that was the end of those military fantasy camps. Go figure.

11. Wolfowitz has become the demon he seeks to destroy.
Sometimes, as I watch him "shake" when speaking, I wonder if he has a small voice telling him THAT!!! I can only hope so.

12. here's how they get the "cross-section"
Marine recruiters in Flint, Michigan approaching teenagers outside a shopping mall to enlist them in the military.

"Maybe we can get you a career in music, you know, let the Marines go for it. I'm sure you know who Shaggy is, right? How about a former Marine? Did you know that?"
