Vanity Fair: Bush* likes strong women!
I've read only a few paragraphs of this article in the new VF, and James Wolcott has said, so far, that:

1) With Bush Sr. traveling all the time, little Dubya was raised by his domineering mother. So he surrounds himself with strong women -- they "have his ear."

2) In Dubya's life, Laura Bush is an "antidote" to Mommy Barbara; Karen Hughes is a "substitute" for her.

3) Barbara Bush used to get pissed when George Sr. was traveling; she didn't like being left alone with her "brilliant" (said sarcastically) children who would only "say one thing a week of interest." Nice, Babs.

4) Karen Hughes out-and-out lied when she criticized Tucker Carlson for writing in 1999 that Dubya frequently swears in front of others -- uses the f-word A LOT (!) Carlson said Hughes has been present during interviews by Carlson in which Dubya has used the f-word. She's just lying to cover up for him.

CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE REST!

1. I'd like to teach him the meaning of "obedience" and "discipline" -- and
in the most humiliating way.

It has Tucker Carlson accusing Karen Hughes of maybe having a mental condition ... Wolcott adds he thinks she may be unbalanced, as well.

It's not saying he likes strong women to COMPLIMENT the guy ... it's saying the strong women are liars and manure-spreaders (or don't agree with him in private).

It speaks of the twins' life of entitlement and coddling "guaranteed to spit out the Hilton sisters".

The story brings back up Laura's high-school "traffic accident," and Dubya's insensitive remarks about his daughter's appendectomy ("she can clean her room").

When Karen Hughes is late because she's stuck in traffic, Bush says to her, "Did you have fun shopping?" (jerk!)

It says that, in private, the daughters don't buy into the conservative movement -- that's why we never see them. They don't wanna be props for their father's stupidity.

It ends ""... thus far the Bush twins have been undutiful daughters, licenced perhaps by their lenient mother, who's trapped in a gilded cage and cannot bring herself to sing."

It also talks about Bush having imitated Karla Fay Tucker (the born-again killer he executed in Texas) supposedly wimpering and pleading for her life on Larry King (which she never did ... Dubya fantasized her saying it, apparently, and did the imitation for Tucker Carlson during an interview ... with his "lips pursed in mock desperation." What a JERK!)

The story is no puff piece ... makes Bush look like a jerk and a puss.

4. "They don't wanna be props for their father's stupidity"...and yet,
...the recent high-profile story about their plans to CAMPAIGN for him???

:wtf:

All of the other pieces seem to fit...and support what I've read in other sources. That one absolutely does NOT.

6. A great article.
His discussion of the Karla Faye Tucker decision is excellent. Wolcott is a brilliant and hilarious writer who loathes the Republican party and routinely slaughters it, it's members and it's "ideas" in print, each and every month in Vanity Fair.
