How freaked out would the dittoheads get?
if Fahrenheit 9/11 were to gross, say, 100 mil on the opening weekend? That lunatic left-wing fringe would look a shitload bigger all of a sudden, wouldn't it? It'll be sort of like very early exit poll results, and I plan to cast my vote on 6/25.

1. Moore's books and films have always exceeded

expectations. And the more roadblocks are put in their way, the better they do. F9/11 should be no exception.

2. i think you're spot on
Right before it hits theatres, the spin doctors will try their hardest to not mention it at all, but Rush'll crack under the pressure and say something like "Folks, folks, the only people that'll pay to see this crap are the crazy ultra liberal fringe! And they've all made up their minds who to vote for anyway, so just calm down already"

Then BAM! This thing grosses 120 mil on opening weekend and they see what they're up against. I'd give anything to see *'s face when his handlers read that headline to him. "MOORE"S FILM A BLOCKBUSTER, BUSH FUCKED"

Deer in the headlights, my friends... deer in the headlights...

3. The highest grossing documentary ever = $120 Million
That was Everest which took five years of constant showings on Imax screens to reach that.

Documentaries simply don't make that much. If Moore grosses over $50 Million total for the entire run of this film, it would be a massive hit.

$5 Million for the opening weekend would be monstrous.

4. this is different
in a normal prez election year, how many people vote? 80 million or so? we'll say 100 million this year, being as fierce as it is. Say 40 million make up the democratic base. If only 12% of the base sees this movie on opening weekend... then that's roughly 30 mil, right?

yeah i pulled these numbers out of my ass. but the point is, this isn't some documentary about the mating habits of pigs (well, ok sorta), it's about something that a great deal of people are very emotional about. in fact, i don't know a democrat that ISN'T going to see this thing, so the potential's pretty big, imo. let's just hope the distribution's there.

6. uh, i'm not trying to win a bet
if it gets widespread distribution, then i wouldn't be surprised at all for it to hit 100 mil.

7. I recall when Hillary's memoir came out, the dittoheads

were saying that nobody would buy it and nobody would read it. I guess that's why my local Borders was having trouble keeping it stocked.

I couldn't afford to buy it, but I went to the library to reserve it and was told I was number 312 on the waiting list.

There sure are a lot of us nobodies.

8. bowling for columbine is probably the only documetary i've
ever watched voluntarily. and that was only because i was sick of walking around blockbuster. but i want to see f9/11 about as bad as any movie i can remember. i'll probably even do something retarded like "dress up" for it. and i'm not even all that liberal, so i see it being really big. we'll see.
