I suppose it's custom that the current Pres., especially if he's of the same party, give the eulogy, but I about choked when I heard this on the news a little while ago.

I doubt there will be any discussion there about stem cell research. Nancy was never a friend of the Bushies, and she is solidly for stem cell research. I doubt anybody in Shrubs admin. would let him say anything like that.

I don't think I can stand to watch. I can barely stand the time that it takes me to hit the remote button when his commercials are on. I'll wait to hear the blunders from all here at DU.

He'll smirk every time he gets a word right. He'll smirk every time he gets a word wrong. With every smirk he'll look at someone in the audience and demand a return smirk ... like a preppie brat making fun of the instructor and pissing on the coursework.

The words he'll get wrong? Anything having to do with kindness, peace, diplomacy and anything that doesn't involve imposing a tyranny on others. (These notions will, of course, be total and complete fabrications regarding Saint Ronnie of the Church of Bonzo.)

23. From time to time, with enough rehearsals

he has pulled off a decent speech. The stakes for him are so high, in terms of trying to fly on the tailwinds of the Gippers "glory" (in the perceptions of some) - that I think he might pull one of those rare speeches off. The risk will be that he slightly veers off course and moves from going toward subtle comparisons (playing up the parts of Reagans policies that his handlers have tried to model Bushjr's presidency after)... and moves into the me/my domain - in which case his fumbles will be more of arrogance at a very inopportune time (in terms of all the viewers.) Thus even if he pulls off one of his rare successful speeches there is a big danger (to him) that his arrogance will push a bit to far making him look unseemly even to some of those who remain in his base.
