All Reagan, All The Time!!!
Edited on Mon Jun-07-04 11:55 PM by dennis4868
Somebody take me out of my misery and shoot me....twice....just to make sure the deed is done! I cannot stand it anymore. It's all Reagan, all the friggin time....on radio, tv, newspapers, etc...when will this ever end? I would be willing to put Reagan on the $10 bill just to end 24/day Reagan lovefest!

As I recall, Reagan was not well loved by the media during his 8 years in office and his approval numbers were no better than Clinton's on average. Plus, Iran Contra may be the biggest crime ever committed while in office, not to mention central america, ignoring AIDS, killing the middle class, poverty rate at 30%, savings and loans scandal, etc...So why is the media having an orgasim or two or three or four over this Reagan guy? If you look at it objectively he was, for the most part, a failure as president....if he was a true leader Iran Contra would have never happened and Ollie North would be a nobody.

Seriously, I just dont get it....does anyone else?

17. Cancel XM and get Sirius. XM is cozy with the Murdoch, DirectTV
Edited on Tue Jun-08-04 01:25 AM by keithyboy
In our neighborhood, the Blockbuster has many empty shelves because so many people are picking up movies to watch instead of watching the TV. I guess the sponsors are losing tons but then, they are Reagan's people so who gives a shit?

9. The media is indebted to RR
He made sure they prospered. Besides, his protege, *, is in deep shit these days and I'm sure they are thinking they can turn attention away from him for a bit.

Glad to see ya know the truth about the RR myth. He really was a shit, wasn't he? I hope he stays dead....

13. Yeah, I get it....Its a vast right wing conspiracy
We need to break up the media monopoly and try to get some actual journalism happening again.

Fuck Reagan...good riddance! Like the evil little war chimp, Ronnie would have never been elected but for dirty tricks by repuke operatives, most notably good old Poppy Bush, who stage managed the Iran Contra affair and arranged for the destruction of US helicopters and their crews in order to sabotage Carter's attempt to rescue American hostages held by Iran.

15. I've been in media exile
..since I heard the news
I turned on the TV...saw tears streaming down Novak's face....Then they showed a young RWR walking on water and feeding California with a loaf of bread and a fish....turned off the TV and computer.
Then I managed to get a number of projects done around here that have been waiting a long time.
I guess we all deal with grief in our own way.
After I reconnected tonight, I see it's still a big deal....at this rate I think I'm gonna get a lot more done this week.

18. You're right - its unbelievable!
Someone at the top must have mandated that Reagan must be mentioned every 5 seconds.

What's going on?!!

I can't stand it either.

there to be alot of attention to this but not like what we are all being exposed too.....it is seriously all reagan all the time, non-stop! A teenager who was not around when Reagan was Prez may think he was God or something or even Jesus. What is going on here. When we had a real media in the 1980s they went after Reagan and demanded accountability (thanks to the weak dems that never happened). On average he was not more popular than Clinton and the Iran-Contra scandal really hurt his image. But now it is like Iran Contra never happened, Reagans ignoring AIDS never happened, thousands dieing in Central America never happened, savings and loans never happened, Libya never happened, etc...what is going on here?

Turn to BBC world news. I watched it this morning on BBC America and there was not a mention of Reagan.

My PBS station carries it. On Sunday I was able to watch totally Reagan-free coverage of D-Day stuff. He was only a footnote scrolled at the bottom of the screen. I haven't watched any Canadian news recently, but I would imagine it would be just as good.

edited for typo

24. Nope
I am mostly ignoring my TV, though I will turn it back on for TDS tonight. I slammed my radio down yesterday morning when NPR was all Reagan all the time.

THEY HAVE NOTHING NEW TO SAY. They're just interviewing everyone who ever knew him and it's the same old shit.
