Bush administration bids to silence intelligence failure witness (Edmonds)
Bush administration bids to silence intelligence failure witness

26.04.2004
1.00pm - By ANDREW BUNCOMBE
The Bush administration will today seek to prevent a former FBI translator providing evidence about September 11 intelligence failures to a group of relatives and survivors who have accused international banks and officials of aiding al Qaeda.

Sibel Edmonds was subpoenaed by a law firm representing more than 500 family members and survivors of the attacks in New York and Washington to testify that she had seen information that proved there was considerable evidence prior to September 2001 that al Qaeda was planning to strike the US with aircraft.

The lawyers made their demand after reading the comments Mrs Edmonds had made to The Independent.

2. FBI translator says she was bribed not to spill beans on 9-11 cover-up
FBI translator says she was bribed not to spill beans on 9-11 cover-up
During the 9-11 Hearing, the spotlight was on Richard Clarke's testimony, because they've been so devastating to the Bush administration. But there's hardly any media mention of Sibel Edmonds' tesimony. She's a Farsi and Turkish translator who worked for the FBI from Sept. 20, 2001 to March 2002. Here's what Govenment Executive magazine had to say about her testimony.
Edmonds said she was hired to retranslate material that was collected prior to Sept. 11 to determine if anything was missed in the translations that related to the plot. In her review, Edmonds said the documents clearly showed that the Sept. 11 hijackers were in the country and plotting to use airplanes as missiles. The documents also included information relating to their financial activities. Edmonds said she could not comment in detail because she has been under a Justice Department gag order since October 2002.

3. Didn't the admin. try to block this lawsuit from the beginning?
Days after the families filed the suit, word leaked out that Chimp was going to try to block the suit so Chuck Schumer wrote them a letter:

The letter surmises that the reason Chimp tried to block the suit was to protect the saudies. That's probaby true, but was Sibel Edmond's then-potential testimony an overriding reason?
