Do you remember the decade of greed?

That's what some called the 80's. I think it was because of the Reagan years that people felt it was OK to only look out for number 1, themselves.

To me the biggest difference between conservatives and liberals is the way that greed plays a role in their political views.

When conservative say they want less government and taxes it is because they don't want to pay for any of the social costs of society yet they love increasing the military budget which is welfare for corporations. That is the Reagan legacy that I remember from the 80's.


His death doesn't change any of that.

I remember Ray-gun standing before a press conference with a copy of the help wanted ads from one of the DC papers, bemoaning the fact that, with 112 pages of help wanted ads, he couldn't understand all the unemployment. If he had read these ads CAREFULLY, he would have seen that the largest majority of them required either some sort of degree (BA,BS,MBA, etc), some type of training or 3-5 years experience, or all of the above. The man was clearly out of touch. That's what I remember about the Reagan years-the years of greed!
