Shrubya giving the eulogy at Reagan's funeral.... why are they taking ...
... the chance of letting him speak in public like that? What if he get's 'caught up in the spirit', starts preaching, makes it into a stump speech or (probably the most amusing prospect) has one of his 'seizures' and starts 'speaking in tounges'!!!!

Now THAT'S Comedy....

1. I hope this backfires on them
I think most people are sick of hearing about Saint Ronnie.

2. Do you HONESTLY think that a single human being
who has an open mind, will watch the funeral? NFW (NO FUCKING WAY)

I'm sorry, it ain't happening. 21st century Americans are not sitting around waiting for the funeral. They moved on Sunday.

9. Americans have the attention span of fleas
I don't think they care for the wall to wall coverage, even if they were fooled by that evil f***.

3. Gee, I hope he doesn't make it political.
I suggest you start building up the pressure now. You know Rove won't resist and Bush will be stomping on Reagan's grave. It's one thing for Wellstone's son to get overwrought with emotion when he talked at his father's memorial, but it would really be in poor taste if Bush attempted to ride in on Reagan's coattails while Ronnie is laid to rest on them.

6. I hope he does make it political
I hope he goes way over the top and makes it so political that any moderates watching are revolted at the spectacle. The more like a campaign stop he makes this the better for us.

4. This is kinda something Presidents have to do.
Certainly they arent complaining, he can look presidential and be compared to Reagan, but if we had a Dem president, he would have to speak at the funeral too.

5. he'll be reading directly from a script
and probably been practicing it all week

his handlers won't let him "blow it", this is too big of a political marketing tool for his campaign

7. One small problem
W doesn't have all week to practice.

By Saturday, he's going to be in really bad shape. Between the flop of a European tour and the G8 Summit, where he's running around like a party host on Quaaludes, he really doesn't have the usual week or so to prepare, that he needs for such a major event. I'm praying for a meltdown during prime time.

8. W will handle the eulogy OK
He'll have a well crafted speach and plenty of time to practice. They'll numb his face to keep him from smirking. Unless he falls on his face in a very amusing way, the media will play the most emotional and touching parts of the eulogy.

No big deal.

12. Except that...Rove and the BS machine haven't a clue what's...
appropriate to say or not at this funeral. They have committed the cardinal sin of believing their own PR. They are completely lost in their own mythos and truly believe they can say anything.

Bush will make a campaign speech out of this. And he will smirk and chuckle--in spite of himself--and just be the usual complete ass. As Justin Wilson say, "I GAW-RAWN-TAY it."

10. Wonder how many dittoheads they will bus into DC? (FL 2000)
Remember how they bused in the "demonstsrators" during the FL recount?
They have enough campaign money to pay 100,000 dittoheads at least $50 each to attend the funeral. They won't have to take a day off because most are unemployed.

11. I wouldn't miss this funeral for anything!
There will be enough irony pouring out of my thoughtscreen to build a battleship! And the highlight of the whole GhoulFest will be trying to guess how what kind--and what dosage--of DRUGS have to be pumped into Junior's reptile veins to keep him from making a Right Bollocks of his oration!

13. absolutely appropriate
Bush is the personification of everything Reagan stood for.

Don't forget, Bush's foreign policy team includes the exact same people responsible for all kinds of crimes under Reagan, in Central America, Iraq, etc.
