My Company's e-mail regarding Raygun's funeral and public leg-humping
Edited to protect my job. I don't know quite how to feel about this:

"________ will observe the death of former President Ronald Reagan this week through a number of special activities. Media walls at the company's major U.S. locations will be tuned to CNN for the entire day on Friday for those employees wishing to follow the news coverage of the national funeral service. In addition, __________ CEO _________ will send a message of condolence on behalf of ________ to Nancy Reagan, and ________ will make a donation to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation's Presidential Learning Center, a place where students from grades K-12 learn about leadership and the presidency. Employees can send their own mes! sage of condolence to the Reagan family by going to a special Ronald Reagan Memorial site at: http://www.ronaldreaganmemorial.com <http://www.ronaldreaganmemorial.com>

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will be closed on Friday to observe a national day of mourning. While ____________'s year-long holiday schedule has come to mirror that of the NYSE, it does not conform when unusual circumstances prompt a spontaneous closing."

Hmm, I don't know......

1. Well, the video wall isn't showing FOX
So I guess I can let it slide.

If that were the case, I'd be suspicious.

5. "a republican corporation" Yeah, that's the scary part
As a guy who hasn't had a "real" job in almost 3 years, most of my advice isn't any good.

Maybe make a donation to the Kerry campaign on behalf of the "Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation's Presidential Learning Center." Since it is "a place where students from grades K-12 learn about leadership and the presidency" what better way to bolster a democracy than to support efforts to replace the administration that is undermining it?

That's why I'm not too surprised.

I would expect this from them.

3. Wow!
Your company really supports the republicans. Do they not think that some employees may not care for Reagan? If I were you, keep tabs and see if that happens when former president Jimmy Carter dies.

7. On the face of it, I don't have a problem with it at all
The man WAS President of the U.S. and it IS a state funeral and I do not detect an overt partisanship bias. I would expect the same for Carter or Ford or Clinton or Bush I.

8. I agree
it doesn't seem to political. i would be interested in knowing if he worked there when nixon died and they did the same thing then.

but we have to remember that most people see reagan as the president of the united states and therefore someone to be respected and honored. they aren't all that into politics or the details of his presidency. to them it's just a president dying.

9. Ask for the day off
so you can "mourn him". Then spend the day partying.

10. Will your company pass the smell test?
Check out if the CEO or president were Bush financial backers. Sorry, I can't remember the site to give you a link at the moment. I looked for my company on one of those sites and was relieved not to find it listed. That's not to say that there isn't a repug in sight, we have plenty, but there's been no official endorsement of anyone.

12. Try here
http://www.opensecrets.org/

I believe this is the site where you can look up political donors by individual and organization.

13. Thanks for the link
A search for my employer didn't produce any results on that site either. It makes me feel a little better.
