This week we're Remembering Reagan. Remember how Reagan loved a good fight, especially when he didn't have to take responsibility for the deaths of tens of thousands innocents? Ever the optimist, Reagan presided over a large number of proxy wars, where Reagan funded (sometimes illegally) one side and the Soviet Union funded the other. Let's look a little closer. But briefly--I have to get to work...
Reagan's buddy, special envoy and arms dealer Donald Rumsfeld (now where have I heard that name before?) opened the doors for Ronny to back Saddam--a known cruel dictator who gassed his own people, silenced free speech and murdered his political opponents, you know the guy, the one Bush #1 failed to remove from power and the one Bush II lied about to sucker us into approving his own little war that led to the deaths of thousands of innocents and at least 1000 Americans...yeah, THAT Saddam, the really bad guy...
...well, that guy loved Reagan. Saddam was fighting the other great evil (no, not the Soviet Union or North Korea, but Saddam, the guy Bush II compared to Hitler), Iran, and needed a little boost. So Reagan gave it to him. Wait, though, wasn't Iran our friend? Didn't we give arms and money to our good friend the Shah of Iran...wait...but he was a ruthless dictator who killed his own people, suppressed free speech, and murdered his political opponents...now I'm confused. You're telling me that we were friends with one evil dictator, and then when they kicked out our guy and put in the new guy, we supported another evil dictator, and gave both sides guns, and then they had a huge war where millions were killed? Hmm.
This Reagan really was a great man.
